An early start for some of our 6th and 5th year students yesterday morning as they embarked on their journey to the University of Limerick open day at 6.30am. Fortunately, we arrived before every other school in Munster and west Leinster did! Beautiful autumnal sunshine made it easier for the students to navigate the extensive UL campus. Students attended course worshops, visited the concert hall and the sports complexes. A number of students took the shuttle bus and travelled across the city to the Mary Immaculate campus which hosts courses in primary teaching.
I want to compliment students on their proactive interest and enthusiasm and also on their excellent manners and punctuality.

Last Friday, October 13th, 50 Leaving Certificate Geography students travelled to Kippure Estate to complete their Geographical Investigations. The report for this investigation is worth 20% of their Leaving Certificate grade. Students had the opportunity to complete primary field work on the upper course of the river Liffey. The weather was in their favour and a productive day was had by all. Many thanks to Mr Douglas, Mr Fitzgerald, Mr Fennell and Ms Woods who accopanied the students.
Thursday, 12th October was an evening of activity in our school as we welcomed 5th and 6th class pupils and their parents to experience a "slice of life" in Coláiste Bhríde. Thank you to all our students who were wonderful ambassadors and who greeted our visitors wholeheartedly. It was such a positive community occasion.
A big congratulations to all of our Junior Cycle students who received exam results today. Also to our parents and teachers.
It’s a proud achievement for our students as they had a difficult few years particularly in terms of making the transition from primary to secondary school, due to Covid.
Very well deserved!
Our 3rd year students are currently studying the topic of government in their CSPE classes and today we were delighted to welcome Councillor Vincent Blake and Councillor John Mullen to our school.
Councillor Mullen and Councillor Blake gave students an overview of the daily life of a county councillor and what services Wicklow County Council are responsible for. They spoke about what motivated them to enter local government and what their role entails. They also discussed local projects which will have an impact on our area namely the proposed Shillelagh/ Arklow greenway and the upkeep of local roads. The students then got an opportunity to ask questions.
We would like to thank Councillor Blake and Councillor Mullen for their time and their honesty. The students will now complete a written project based on what they learned today and this project will form part of their final CSPE grade.
The final leg of the German exchange involved a farewell party culminating with a Bavarian/Irish rendition of the dance classic - The Macarena! The students then travelled to watch an ice hockey game at the home of the 'Blue Devils' in Weiden. It was time to say goodbye the next morning where there were tears and hugs a plenty.
The group are home safely after what was an action packed and amazing experience for all involved. Once again, thanks to Leargas Ireland who coordinate the Erasmus + programme which made the exchange possible.
A special word of thanks to Ms. Burke, Ms. Deegan and Ms. Heffernan who accompanied the students on the exchange.
All first year students took part in a Maths Quiz in the school gym this morning. This annual event is organised in support of the ongoing promotion of numeracy in the school and to promote the fun aspects of the subject. Many thanks to the maths department for organising it. Results to follow.
Our students and teachers are enjoying their last few days in Germany on what has been an amazing and enriching experience for all involved.
On Wednesday, the group travelled to a World Heritage site - the Roman settlement of Regensburg. They later visited Walhalla where they took in the breathtaking views and even managed to fit in some shopping on the way. Watch this space for further updates!
