Huge congratulations to our Junior golf team of Larry Kinsella, Dan Redmond and Kacey Jo Cullen who qualified for the Leinster Junior Strokeplay finals today with a fantastic performance in Delgany golf club. These lads were not overawed as they faced up against tough opposition from across Dublin and south Leinster. The lads really enjoyed the experience of playing this course and noted that the greens were fast and the fairways tight! Special mention must go to Larry Kinsella who had a superb round of 41 points. Well done to the 3 lads and we wish them well in the Leinster final!

Under-14 Football Team Bow Out of Leinster. Hard luck to the under-14 football team who lost their final group game to Enniscorthy CBS, with a scoreline of 1-9 to 5-5. The lads can be very proud of their efforts in this hard fought match. Behind by three goals at half time, they showed huge courage to come storming back into the game. With 10 minutes to play, Carnew were very unlucky not to go level with the Enniscorthy goalkeeper making a fine save. Enniscorthy went on to score two goals in the final 5 minutes to make the final score look one side, which wasn’t a true reflection of the hard fought game. This was the final game of the group and this group’s first experience of playing in Leinster. This will stand to the group in the coming years representing the school.

Transition Year students travelled to the Leinster Driving Campus in Maynooth, Co. Kildare on Monday 14th of October. Leinster Driving Campus hold a course aimed at Transition Year students to prepare them for their driving careers. At this excellent venue students were presented with opportunity to gain invaluable road experience. The group took part in a course putting emphasis on safety whilst driving, and preparing for the theory test. In the aftermath of this, the students had to put theory into practice as they undertook driving lessons from an ADI approved driving instructor. At Leinster Driving Campus students are offered a realistic driving experience on a private road network featuring the more common traffic control features you'll meet on the public roads. This was an excellent opportunity to have taken part in, in such a great venue. A special congratulations must go to Bríd Doyle, who won the award for "The driver of the day". Bríd won a one hour lesson with the Leinster driving campus. Well done Bríd. Overall it was a great experience for the students and will prove to be a huge advantage when they begin learning to drive

Today are junior football team faced Tullow community school in the first group game of this year‘s junior football Leinster Competition. The game was played in Carnew in somewhat difficult conditions. The strong winds which was cutting across the pitch allowed Carnew to play a very compacted game which allowed them to move the ball through the hands. Carnew created a number of goalscoring opportunities and took the majority of them. Carnew lead at the break 3-6 to 0-7. Carnew benefited from the Tullow community School goalkeeper having to leave the field due to injury, and continued to build on their scoreline keeping Tullow at bay. Tullow however did not give up and in the closing stages of the game produce some fine scores. Special mention must go to Rory O Dare who scored 4–2 today and also to Shane Byrne in the goal who kept Tullow at Bay. Carnew ran out winners on a score line of 6–9 to Tullow 2–10. Well done to all the lads today, it was a good victory for a team which is still learning how to play with one another due to the blend of year groups. Junior footballers next game is away to Wexford CBS on Thursday 21st. Mr Gleason and Mr Murphy Would like to congratulate the lads on victory today but also remind the lads that defensively we must improve. We would also like to wish the members of the panel who will play the south Leinster hurling final on Wednesday all the best of luck.

The Girls Senior Football team topped their group following a convincing win over GCM in Arklow on Wednesday October 9th. Both teams went into this match knowing a win would guarantee a home semi final in the Wicklow A championship. The Carnew side started strongly and pushed the home side back deep time and time again in the opening 20 minutes to open up a commanding 2-6 to no score lead. However the home side dominated the remainder of the half and scored 1-5 without reply to get back into the game. Thankfully for the Colaiste Bhride girls, a well worked goal on the stroke of half time put daylight between the sides once again. The second half began much like the first as the Carnew girls pushed forward at will tagging on some great points to put the result beyond doubt. Final score GCM 2-5 Colaiste Bhride 3-21.
