The Senior A girls played the Quarter Final of the Munster Senior Cup on Wednesday 23rd January and were narrowly defeated 4-3 by the home team Mt Mercy. The whole squad worked tirelessly for the 60 mins and our exemplary 6th years once again stood tall and gave it absolutely everything. Mt Mercy were the first to score a goal from play but Bandon levelled the score with a goal from Moira Barrett after a superb attack by Alison Hathway. Mt Mercy scored two more goals and with 12 minutes to go Bandon were 4-1 down. However rather than give up they fought back and scored two goals in five minutes with Lucy Rowe & Rebecca Kingston both confidently putting the ball passed the Mt Mercy GK. At 4-3 Mt Mercy were awarded a stroke but Jen Barry made an excellent stick save to deny Mt Mercy the goal! Bandon kept the pressure on with two more attacks into the Mt Mercy circle but in the end we just ran out of time to get the equaliser. The senior A girls are still in contention for the Munster league and have another chance to play Mt Mercy & Crescent for the title. They will also now enter the Senior A plate competition.
