PE Expo
30 May 2024
On Tuesday last, the 28th of May, the winners of the PExpo were invited to the Sports Development Conference of Ireland 2024. Here they got to meet various representation of public bodies involved in promoting sport and physical activity. They participated in an interactive workshop by Hermoves.
Students met former international rugby star, Nora Stapleton, who spoke about her career journey from elite athlete to her current role as Director of Women in Sport. She was very interested in their projects and their experience of PE in St Brigid's. The students were able to articulate their viewpoints and think on their feet. They gained a valuable insight into the PE curriculum and learnt that not all schools have the same access to curriculum experiences that they have had.
Following their presentation, they headed on a tour of the facilities, seeing where all the elite athletes train. They saw the Senior Women Soccer team finish their training ahead of their game this Friday. They also had a friendly chat with the Minister for Sport Thomas Byrne, and they went onto visit the National Aquatic Centre also.
Thank you to Joanne Kennedy, Sports Ireland, and the PExpo team for facilitating this opportunity and Ms Moynihan who accompanied the students on the day.
