LCA Parents Coffee Morning

It was great to welcome so many parents of our 5th year and 6th year Leaving Cert Applied classes today. Parents were given the opportunity to view project work, listen to a presentation on important LCA information for the year ahead and also enjoy a cup of tea and a scone. Two of our 6th year LCA students Hannah Moloney and Ryan Boyle spoke very well about why they choose the programme and how it has been going for them so far. Ms Elaine McDonnell Guidance Counsellor spoke about pathways and careers after LCA. Overall it was a very successful morning and a pleasure to meet with our LCA parents. Wishing both 5th year and 6th year students all the best in the year ahead!
Cars on the school grounds

Dear parents and guardians,

I am writing to appeal to you to pay attention to some basic safety requests with regard to cars on the school grounds.
  • Please do not park/wait on the yellow box in front of the school. This is causing serious disruption.
  • Please do not park/wait where there are double yellow lines. 
  • Please drive slowly. I have received reports of cars being driven at speed - remember pedestrians and cyclists are likely to be in the vicinity at all times. 
  • Cars leaving the avenue must yield to allow cars coming into the grounds from the main road. 
Please consider whether it is necessary for you to drive into the grounds at all. I’m sure the vast majority of drop offs and collections could happen without coming in to what is a very small and congested area. 

Thank you for your assistance. Hopefully we will keep your children safe with everybody’s cooperation.

Dear Parent/Guardian, 


This is a reminder that your son/daughter will be completing the New Group Reading Test (NGRT) on either Wednesday 13th or Friday 15th of September  (depending on their base class). This test determines your son’s/daughter’s reading age, by measuring their reading skills against the national average. The results will inform planning for all subject areas. 


Students in 1A, 1B, 1C and 1E will complete the test on Wednesday. Students in 1D and 1F will complete the test on Friday. 


Your son/daughter requires a standard set of earphones/headphones with an AUX connection (cannot be bluetooth). If you have a set at home, please send them in with your son/daughter on the relevant day for the test. There is no need to purchase a set, there will be some spare sets available in school on the day.

Bereavement support groups for adolescents

I am writing to share some information regarding a bereavement support group running in Leixlip on the 10th of November for adolescents aged 13 -15 years.
 
The group will be facilitated by two experienced Creative Arts Therapists accredited with the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists (IACAT).
 
We were wondering if the attached information could be shared within your school to spread awareness of the group?
 
We are planning to continue the group on a monthly basis.

Any girls second year and up born on or after 1st July 2007 are invited to training for the Junior Ladies Football team after school Tuesday. Get changed straight after school and meet Ms Doran as the yellow door at the PE area

The very best of luck to 2nd Year CPC student Evan Byrne as he completes in the National Youth Criterium Championship over the weekend. Evan has been clocking up hundreds of kilometres over the past few weeks in preparation for this event. We wish you all the best Evan.

Important notice regarding uniform and PE uniform

Dear parents and guardians,

I hope your son/daughter has settled back in to school well. There is a great energy in CPC and it is very much a case of so far so good!

I am writing to remind you of our expectations around uniform. All students must wear the correct CPC uniform at all times. This means the CPC jumper with crest, blue school shirt, CPC skirt or black trousers. The trousers are not leggings, jeans, tracksuit bottoms, shorts etc. Of course on warm days such as this week the jumper can be removed.

Footwear must be plain black - this means no white toe caps etc. (e.g. Converse)

The PE uniform can only be worn on the day your child has PE. If your child is in years 2-6 and is not wearing the school crested bottoms for any reason, then they must be wearing plain black tracksuit bottoms. Please ensure they do not come to school wearing any other colours.

It is very unpleaseant for us and you to have to phone you at home or at work about your child's non uniform. Please speak with your child about this.
