Visit to local Primary School

Archived : 01 Aug 2024, 12:00 AM

Before heading off on their summer holidays, a group of First Year students visited our local Primary School which they had previously attended. They met with all the 6th class students and engaged in a Q&A session on the transition from Primary School to CPC.

Among the many questions which our First Year students answered were questions in relation to:

  • Moving from class to class and getting used to a new routine in Secondary School
  • Subjects on offer and the workload in First Year
  • Using lockers and being organised for various subjects
  • Making new friends and starting in a new class
  • Extracurricular activities which our First Years took part in this year.

The First Year students were great ambassadors and represented their year group very well while helping the 6th class students prepare for the transition to CPC.

Well done to all students involved.

A massive well done and thank you to the fantastic TY students that have come in to school this week and last week to help out at a number of events including the the 6th year Graduation breakfast and our end of year lunch.

These students have went above and beyond to make each event the best it could be. They decorated our assembly hall, prepared, and served fabulous food.

We are hugely thankful also to Georgia and Conor from Foodschool.ie for equipping our students with the skills and confidence needed to work within the hospitality industry.

We are all so very proud of all of our students. They were professional from beginning to end in all that they did.

Thank you

Well done to our TY Shona Ambassadors

Well done to our TY Shona Ambassadors - Evey Brand and Clodagh Burdis who spent all of this week in school painting beautiful inspirational messages on the cubicle doors of the girls bathrooms.

The Shona Project is all about educating, empowering, and inspiring girls living in Ireland, so they grow into strong and confident young women.

It was important to our TY Shona Ambassadors to make their bathroom spaces a positive and welcoming space for all the female students in our school.

Thank you

Leo Brennan and Tess Lambe Bursaries
Created : 31 May 2024, 11:09 AM
Archived : 31 Jul 2024, 12:00 AM

The following bursaries may be of interest to 6th Year students

1. The Leo Brennan Bursary
Leo Brennan, a former teacher of CPC, left a sum of money to be given to 6th Year students to support them in their studies.
This year will more than likely be the final year of the awarding of the bursary and will see one student receive a once off bursary of €2000 and three students receive a once off bursary of €1000.
Students do not need to be eligible for SUSI to make an application as the committee take a number of factors into consideration when awarding the bursary, for example, the number of children in the family already attending Further and Higher Education.
Application to the bursary is open to students who intend to study either a Post Leaving Cert course at Further Education or a Level 8/7/6 course at Higher Education next year.
Interested students are asked to email an expression of interest to bursary23@gmail.com (note it's 23 not 24) before Friday 14th June. An application form will then be forwarded and students will be given a number of weeks to complete the application form.

2. The Tess Lambe Bursary
Tess Lambe is a scientist and former student of CPC who works at Oxford University. She is one of the co-developers of the Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccine against coronavirus.
This bursary will be open to female students in 6th Year who will accept a place on a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering,Maths) course and it is a once off bursary of €500. We will remind students of this bursary again once CAO offers and acceptances have taken place and should students wish to make an application for the bursary please email an expression of interest to tesslambebursary23@gmail.com
(again please note it's 23 not 24).
