TY: What's on Next Week

Well done to all our winners from our Hike competitions last Thursday & Friday, there is one group who still needs to collect their prizes so a reminder to all to check your submissions. Well done to all the students on completing their Irish Orals this week and to those of you who got your first aid qualifications also. Please see some notices for the week ahead. 1. The examinations timetable is posted on the google classroom. Please remind your daughter to check this. Normal classes will be running next week. 2.. The initiative credits google form has also been posted on the google classroom. This will be closing Monday 17th of May at 4pm. NO EXCEPTIONS! Please remind your daughter to have this submitted as soon as possible. 3. Our TY Graduation video has started recording this week.. The students look forward to sharing their event with their friends and family via pre-recorded video on the 27th of May. Students will be watching the video together in school on that day. There will be some re shoots happening next week so please remind your daughter to check the google classroom regularly. 4. Well done also to all who participated in their sponsored walks this week, a reminder that the money for the sponsored walk will be collected during PasCare. Please have your card and your money in a ziplock bag in order to follow the COVID guidelines. 5. Please see a notice below from IT Carlow. The Creative Hub team at IT Carlow will be running a free online summer school for TY and senior cycle students in late June. This is an innovative project that young people can really get their teeth into. It's gives learners a taste of 3rd level in a fun and original week-long programme. It has been built to enhance progression to 3rd level and encourage digital entrepreneurship and a re-engagement with learning. We would be very grateful if you could please distribute the attached e-leaflet to prospective learners. The QR code on the e-leaflet brings everyone to our web page and application. (Leaflet is posted on the google classroom)

As part of our TY Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) Programme it is planned that TYs will participate in a workshop specifically focussed on Active Consent after the Easter break. Before the workshop, it is envisaged to hold a virtual parents’ information session explaining what the workshop will cover on Tuesday 13th April at 7pm. The session will be facilitated by the Active*Consent programme creators from NUI Galway. Some information on the programme, as explained by the programme team, is detailed in the attachment. Well done on a terrific term's work, particularly to the 1st to 4th Year students who have kept engaged learning remotely for that bit longer. We are very much looking forward to having you all back after Easter! Have a very well earned break over Easter!
