Ash Wednesday
Today Our Lady's celebrated the first day of Lent, known as Ash Wednesday, by distributing Ashes to all the students and staff who took part in the ceremonies. Ash Wednesday was organised by the Le Chéile Council and school Chaplain. Three intimate ceremonies took place with prayers and music followed by the distribution of blessed Ashes. Such a lovely occasion that was enjoyed by all who took part. Well done to the Le Chéile Council and Mr. Devine.
Pancake Tuesday
Is YOUR pancake a circle? Ms Floods TY Maths class investigated this by seeing if the ratio of diameter to circumference equals Pi (a mathematical constant = 3.14)…then your pancake is a circle!!

Best of luck to Laura Potts who is Swimming in McCullagh International in Bangor today!
Minor Camogie
Well done to our Minor Camogie Team who won their second game of group stage comprehensively. The girls played a terrific game against St Wolstans. A great effort by all 30 members of the game day panel.

Today marked the start of our second annual Cyber Week. We are aiming to highlight all the wonderful aspects of the digital world, as well as working together to be better online and address cyberbullying. We had a range of activities running including our new STEM kit building, our mini arcade and the House Cyber Olympics. A great start to what should be a fantastic week!
A reminder to parents that on Tuesday February 21st at 8pm, Webwise; the Irish internet safety awareness centre is delighted to host the Talk, Listen, Learn Online Safety Webinar for parents/guardians of teens. The webinar will explore the opportunities and risks for children online, offer practical advice to support parents, highlight key resources/supports and answer some frequently asked questions. The TikTok Safety team will also provide a short explainer on how TikTok works and some key safety features. We look forward to welcoming the school community back in the morning!
A reminder to students to do a quick uniform check before leaving home tomorrow:
- Wear your full school uniform or tracksuit (remember you can only wear the school tracksuit if you have PE/sports) - no mixing of items from the school uniform and tracksuit!
- Check any accessories - no facial piercings/large hoopy earrings - keep it to small earrings - safety is our top priority!
- Any nail/eyelash extensions acquired over the break should have disappeared by the morning!
- As we head into Spring, students are reminded that it is not healthy practice to wear school jackets indoors. Those who wish can wear an additional layer under their school shirt for extra warmth. Otherwise, jackets can stay in the lockers until break/lunch/hometime!
