Darkness into Light

OLS has a proud tradition of supporting the great work of Pieta House. Participation in the annual “Darkness into Light” sunrise walk is one of the ways students and their families have raised vital funds for this charity in the past. This year DIL is a virtual event - see www.darknessintolight.ie for details on how you can register or donate. Please share your photographs of your sunrise walk/swim/cycle with your Councillor (via Google Classroom). Closing date for entries is Monday 10th May. PIP points on offer for the Houses with the best photos!

Maria Vitae Porta is the motto of Our Lady’s School. It means Mary, the gate of life. During the month of May we celebrate Mary, the Patron Saint of our school. Life is a journey, and we have Mary, the Mother of Jesus, as our guide. We invite members of the school community to bring flowers in to decorate our May Altar in reception. Perhaps you could pick a few flowers from your garden, bring them in in a jam jar and place them on the table.

Update on the Final Day of Term

Dear Parents, The Department of Education confirmed the following yesterday: Following discussions with the education partners it was agreed as part of the Accredited Grades process, that post-primary schools would close on the 28th of May this year rather than the 4th of June in order to complete the work required on Accredited Grades. Hafswa Jelan P6 and Mariam Hassan L6 are raising awareness of the Yemen Crisis by participating in a 5km sponsored Walk, Cycle, Run event this coming Saturday 8th May. They are both participating in Ramadan at the moment and will be fasting during this sponsorship event. OLS Clothing Drive

Yesterday OLS held a Clothing Drive in aid of St Vincent De Paul, It was a huge success. A big thank you to all who donated and helped organise the event. Anyone who forgot to drop off unwanted clothing can still drop off bags at lunchtime on Friday at the arch.

TY Day Trips - 6th & 7th of May

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s), Your daughter has received a talk today from either Ms. Phillips or Ms. Byrne during first to outline where she is getting her bus tomorrow and Friday. As there were difficulties getting to ZipIT the school has arranged a bus for all trips which your daughter was made aware of on Tuesday. If your daughter is in the first group heading to ZipIT (B4 on Thursday, and L4 on Friday) please note that she must be at her assigned room by 08:20 as we will be getting the bus at 08:30 sharp and sign ins must be completed for the day. If you have already arranged transport for the trip that is fine, just ensure that your daughter checks in with the supervising teachers when she joins the group.
