Liebherr announces details of Engineering Scholarship Programme for 2019  Open Evening on May 2nd at Liebherr  Closing date 31st May 2019 Liebherr Container Cranes in Killarney are inviting applications for the 2019 Engineering Scholarship Programme. The Liebherr Engineering Scholarship Programme will provide a unique opportunity for Leaving Certificate and 1st year college students to gain a 3 rd level qualification, in an engineering course of their choice, from the following engineering disciplines; electrical, mechanical, structural, automation or mechatronics. Interested candidates should apply by email to gradrecruit.lcc@liebherr.com before 31 st May 2019. Applicants should include a CV detailing Leaving Certificate/Junior Certificate/college projects and/or results and a cover letter explaining why they have chosen engineering as a career path. In the case of leaving certificate applicants, a copy of their completed CAO form showing their choice of engineering course should be included. Successful applicants will benefit from an all course fees paid programme for their selected college. The additional benefit of being able to complete work experience during summer vacation and college placements throughout the course terms, will also be part of the learning experience. Upon completion, a graduate role in the company is assured. Liebherr will hold an Engineering Scholarship open evening on Thursday May 2 nd from 5:00 pm to provide information to interested students, parents and teachers. Liebherr engineers from a variety of disciplines will be available on the evening to provide practical advice to students regarding engineering as a career choice, and to show examples of their daily work. Those who wish to attend the open evening should register by sending an email to gradrecruit.lcc@liebherr.com. 2 / 2 In 2018, the scholarship was awarded to 4 students, Gearoid O’Leary a 1st year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Limerick, Aoibheann O’Brien a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Limerick, Grainne Donegan a 2nd year Structural Engineering student at University College Cork and Ciara Dennehy a 2nd year Mechatronics student at the Institute of Technology Tralee. A previous winner of the scholarship, Simon Renardson commented “The benefits of the Liebherr Scholarship Programme for me have been two-fold: Firstly, It is comforting to know that I have employment secured at the end of my studies, and secondly. I have been able to bring back to the classroom, the knowledge and hands-on experience I have gained with Liebherr. The Programme represents a significant investment on behalf of Liebherr and demonstrates their commitment to future engineers. I would highly recommend the Liebherr Scholarship to interested students . Speaking about the Engineering Scholarship Programme, Liebherr’s Managing Director - Engineering Mr. Charlie McCarthy said “One of the key elements of the scholarship is the practical experience the students will gain at Liebherr during their summer and college work placements. The tradition of both a practical and theoretical education is synonymous with Liebherr. The students will work in engineering departments throughout the company, under the guidance of senior engineers where they will benefit from seeing the application of engineering principles on modern high tech world class products”.
