Leaving Certificate
Our Senior Rugby team got off to a winning start this week when they took on Roscommon CC in the senior emerging league pool A on Tuesday 18th. Two first half tries and two successful conversions was enough to take home the win on a windy day in loughrea RFC. final scoreline was St. Raphaels 14 - 5 Roscommon CC. well done to all the lads.
Connacht Schools Track and Field

Great success in Athlone toady at the Connacht Schools Track and Field. Alisha Larkin came second in the intermediate Long Jump competition. Chloe Casey came first in both the Discus and Shot Put in the intermediate category. Jerry Keary winning the senior boys High Jump. Daniel Callan Forde advanced in the Senior boys Long Jump comming in second place. Luke Evans finished second in the steeple chase. All athletes will now advance to the regional finals in June. Ryan Gallagher, Cormac Morgan and Ciaran Harris were unfortunate not to qualify but put in an enormous effort. Well done to all athletes.
Connacht Schools Cross Country 2018

Great day for St. Raphaels College at the Connacht Schools Cross Country in Calary, Co. Sligo today. We had students racing in the following categorys, Minor Girls, Senior Girls and Senior boys. Well done to Alanna Mannion, Aoife Duffy, Holly Kane and Sophie Burke who finished in the top thirty of the Minor Girls Category. Congratulations to Carla Noone who finish 5th in the Minor Girls. Luke evans ran a fantastic race in the senior boys category which saw him finish in 7th place. Cormac Morgan was also running well before pulling up with injury. Huge success for Caron Ryan in the Senior Girls. Caron led the race from the start and after the first lap began to create a gap between herself and her competitors. On approaching the home straight, Caron led comfortably but that didnt stop her from extending her lead further up the hill to win her category in great fashion. Well done to all the athletes.
2nd year boys get silver medal in Basketball West Final

The second year boys basketball team played their hearts out, leaving it all out on the floor today in NUIG! They qualified for the final after finishing top of their group! Dunmore has previously beaten the current All Ireland Champions so we’re hot favourites going into the Final! A great performance from the Raphaels lads was just not enough to see off a strong Dunmore team! Some great scores from Tiernan Killeen, Darren Shaughnessy and Conor Brann, kept us right in the game! Some great defence from Kieran Hanrahan, and Mikey Murray kept Dunmore under pressure the entire game! However it was Dunmore who finished the stronger team, the score line 27-22 in the end! The lads now go into an All Ireland preliminary round, with the prospect of continuing on to an All Ireland Playoff if they win! Best of luck lads!
Cross Country South Connachts

Great Success at the South Connachts Cross Country on a cold day in Galway. The minor girls team finished second overall with Carla Noone finishing in third place! Seafra Lynch also qualified for the Connachts in the Junior Girls! Caron Ryan came in 1st place in the Senior Girls, with her brother Ben coming in 4th place in the Senior Boys which was a very close race the whole way! Luke Evans had a strong finish not far behind the lead group and Cormac Morgan also qualified for the Connachts in Calry Sligo next Wednesday! Well done to all involved!!

Well done to both the first and second year basketball teams on their win over Galway community College! The boys have been training since October and their hard work paid off today with comprehensive wins! The First Years won 28-15 Top scorers: Marcus Burns 6 points Tadgh Connaghton 6 points Ethan Ward 6 points The Second years won 40-8 Top scorers: Tiernan Killeen 14 points Kieran Hanrahan 8 points Darren Shaughnessy 8 points Next game: Monday 29th v Headford
BT young Scientist

A big congratulations to Aisling Casserly and Miriam Kennedy on their fantastic achievement at the BT young scientist exhibition last week. The girls did their project on Water Conservation using compensatory growth in plants and were awarded a highly commended prize! This was the first time that St Raphaels had entered the BT Young Scientist! Well done girls!!

For students this will be Name, Year in school & Email (must verify their email). For parents it will be mandatory to complete all the following information - Parent’s Name, Student’s Name, Student’s Year, Mobile (& Verify), Email (& Verify). Please be sure to use the same names, emails and mobile number (parents only) as we have on our internal administration system. It will be mandatory to complete this process to enter the App. This will give the school a greater level of transparency about its app users, make using the new functionality more seamless and permit parents to complete and return forms and information to the school securely.
