Irish Schools Swimming Success!

Congratulations to Zoe Browne,  Laura  Potts, Sylvie Marley and Caitlinn Comerfor d who represented OLS today in the Irish Schools Senior Relay Competition. The team came 2nd in the freestyle relay and 3rd in the medley, which is a phenomenal achievement and reflects their dedication and commitment to their sport. Well done girls!

Yesterday, TYs went on a trip to DCU to do a campus tour. 

Best of luck to Zoe Browne, Laura Potts, Caitlinn Comerford, Sylvie Marley, who are representing OLS in the Irish Schools Relay Championships which take place on Sunday in the National Aquatic Centre. The girls are competing in the Freestyle and medley events.

Today, the fifth year Coiste members organised a Rincethon & Ciorcal Cainte for each Year Group in aid of Pieta House, great fun was had by all. 

Seachtain na Gaeilge Winners. Comhghairdeas le gach duine! Congratulations to everyone! Please see attached the winners! A huge thank you to the Coiste Gaeilge for all their hard work during Seachtain na Gaeilge. Maith sibh a chailíní! 

Congratulations are in order after three nights of shows for our TY. The musical was a tremendous success and reflected many months of hard work, well done to all involved!

A happy World Poetry Day to you all! Please, find on the library website the poem Eleanor O'Reilly wrote for this library event!

This week, OLS is very pleased to present the Musical Six from our very talented TYs. Congratulations on last night's first performance! We wish them all the best for the rest of the week, tonight and on Thursday evening. 

Well done to Sarah Kiernan (C5) who came 2nd in both 400m and 200m this weekend during the Leinster Indoor Competition!

Please find some pictures from Friday's Color Run in the gallery. This event, organised by the Active School Flag class, was an occasion of joy and fun and it shows! 

This Summer, the Royal Irish Academy of Music will host a week-long immersive experience for young pianists aged 13-18 years old.  Through tailored coaching, students will receive expert advice on musical interpretation, practice strategies, and key elements of playing technique, all designed to elevate their skills. Wellbeing Week - Day 4

Today, the Active School Flag has organised the annual colour run to finish the week on a high! This run is to support Special Olympics. This sport organisation transforms lives through sport for people with an intellectual disability from the age of 4 years old. Currently almost 8,000 athletes from across the island of Ireland participate in 15 different sports through Special Olympics. 
 
This morning the 5th years were on a trip to UCD for a tour of the University.
Congratulations to Ella Meade and Carla Hickey on coming first and second in the TY Bake Off yesterday. We will have our ultimate winner after the Showstopper, round two. Well done to all of the girls who took part. 32.png32.png32.png
 
Congratulations to Aimee Dignam, TY3, who has won a place in the ActionTalks national speech writing competition final. For winning a place in the final, Aimee will win a €50 one-for-all voucher and proceed on to the final which will be held in Dublin in April. This competition is supported by Irish Aid (Department of Foreign Affairs), which funds ActionAid's Women's Rights Programme, a programme that works to eliminate violence against women and girls. 
 
Big congratulations to Lia Tobin Howes and Ava Montague from TY. Both students' individual entries have made it to the long list of the ReLove Fashion competition for 2025. Both girls had online interviews with the judges over the last few days and we wish them all the best of luck in the competition. 
 
News came in late this afternoon that our amazing U14 badminton team are now Leinster champions (having won the Dublin finals a few weeks ago, they competed at Leinster level today)! Well done to Julia McNamara Quinn, Anna O’Brien, Maeve Gannon and Zoe King!
 
A reminder that school is closed tomorrow, Friday, and Monday, as per school calendar.

The next OLS Parents’ Book Club will be held on Wednesday 26th on March at 7.30pm in the Two Sisters Terenure.
The chosen book is The Outrun by Amy Liptrot.

Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s),

As part of the Transition Year Career’s programme we are planning a career trip on Thursday 20 March 2025 from 12.45 to 3pm. This trip will give your daughter the opportunity to visit DCU in order to assist her with her career planning and research. The trip will include learning about the available courses, talks about student life and a campus tour of the college.

Students will attend classes as normal in school until breaktime.

They will then be free to make their own way to DCU to meet at 12.45 at the Helix, DCU. 

Students will meet at The Helix, DCU, Glasnevin at 12.45 on Thursday 20 March.

Please note that students must make their own way to and from DCU.

Students should wear the school uniform and bring a coat.
