Not to be outdone by their Under 15 counterparts, the 1st Year soccer team reached the Leinster final after a terrific game versus Presentation Kilkenny today. From the outset the HFSS girls were under pressure from their opponents with our defence holding strong clearing any ball that came towards them. On the stroke of half time a mix up from a kick out allowed the Presentation forward to latch onto the misplaced ball and fire them deservedly ahead. In the second half a much improved HFSS dominated possession and territory creating some excellent chances only for the keeper to make some brilliant chances. In the dying moments of the game HFSS found the equaliser they had been pushing so hard for. Ella Donellan ran on to a through ball and calmly found the net. Throughout the two periods of extra time no breakthrough could be found and the game went to penalties. In the shoot out Ella Donellan, Anniemae Dunne and Jessica McNulty found the net for HFSS, coupled with two super saves from Shannon Carey and a miss from Presentation Kilkenny, meaning HFSS advance to the school's second Leinster final this year.

Dear Parents/Guardians As our country begins to reopen we have welcomed an improvement in the weather. During the pandemic we allowed certain latitudes regarding our school uniform. However, as of Monday March 28th 2022, we are reverting to full implementation of our uniform policy and the expectation that all students will comply fully to wearing the uniform which we are proud of. This policy, signed by all students, can be found on pages 29 and 30 of the school journal and our Uniform Policy, attached below, can also be found on our website: www.holyfamily.ie/policy-2/ These are wonderfully positive developments as they mean that we are returning to normal. This gives us the opportunity to identify more as a shared community and embody the spirit of Holy Family Secondary School. UNIFORM Full uniform is expected: Skirt (must be at mid-calf length) or trousers, jumper with the school crest, a white blouse/shirt and plain black tights or socks is the uniform for all students in HFSS. Plain black leather or leather effect shoes are acceptable. There should be no colours and brands, like converse, are not acceptable. Students are not permitted to wear their outdoor wear coats/fleeces or hoodies during classes. HAIR, COSMETICS AND JEWELLERY Junior pupils are not permitted to wear make-up. Senior students are not permitted to wear excessive make-up Excessively long and inappropriate gel, shellac and acrylic false nails are not permitted. Only discreet natural hair colours are permitted, in all forms. One earring stud may be worn per ear. All other piercings are strictly forbidden (including nose rings). Surplus jewellery will be confiscated and kept by the school until the end of the school year. PE UNIFORM Tracksuit bottoms with HFSS hoodie or half zip Converse boot runners and similar style footwear are not permitted. Appropriate footwear is important for sports related activities. PE uniform may be worn for PE class only. Only when PE class takes place during the final period of the day may students keep their PE uniform on. These requirements are not new. They are already in our code of behaviour and are based on the principles of equality. No student should feel under pressure to have labels. Thank you for your support.
