Permanent Accommodation Update
Created : 21 Mar 2024, 9:51 AM
Archived : 21 May 2024, 12:00 AM

Dear Parent, Guardian, Carer,

We hope that this letter finds you all well. We are writing to update you on our permanent accommodation.

Firstly, we would like to express our immense appreciation and thanks to all of our parents, guardians and carers who were so proactive and supportive in contacting our local representatives.

We have been inundated with communications from our local T.Ds and Councillors. The issue has repeatedly been brought to the attention of the Minister for Education and her officials via Parliamentary Questions and individual enquiries and our patron, Educate Together have met with the Design and Build Unit within the Department to highlight our frustration and concerns.

On foot of this, the Department of Education have recently contacted us to outline that tender returns for our school’s permanent accommodation have been received and the analysis and review is at a very advanced stage.

The Department view our school project as a flagship project for our local school community and have outlined that given the magnitude of this large-scale investment, the tender evaluation process takes a significant amount of time for the Department's technical staff and project management team to adequately and appropriately analyse.

The Department have reiterated that they are extremely conscious of the urgency in getting our school project delivered as quickly as possible and have sought to reassure us that the school project is being prioritised and that the delay is not down to any issue with the tender process itself, more so, due to the scale of work involved.

Once the tender process concludes mid-2024, our understanding is that construction will commence shortly thereafter with a projected build time of 88 weeks.

We will continue to keep you updated as and when we receive more information from the Department.

Finally, thank you for helping us to ensure that our school project remains a top priority for the Department.

It was parent power that willed our school into being and it is with your continued help that our permanent school will be delivered for our students and school community.

Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards,

Padraig Conaty, Principal/Secretary to Board of Management

Block 1

Art

PE

Politics & Society

Physics

Block 2

Business

Economics

Home Economics

Block 3

Biology

Computer Science

History

Based on your children's previous subject preferences inputted via MS Forms, and using our option band creation sofware in Vsware, these option bands have been created to allow for the highest possible choices for the year group as a whole rather than for an individual student. We are delighted to say that 100% of students are in a position to select 2 out of their top 3 subject preferences. These option band formations are now final for 2024-2026.

We would greatly appreciate if you could, with the help of your child, select their subjects by 5.00pm on Thursday, May 2nd. To do this please log into Vsware and click on the tab that says 'options'. As we will be commencing timetabling for 2024-2025 on Friday 3rd May, please note that any students who have not selected subjects by Thursday 2nd May will be randomly placed into the option subjects.

Thank you.
