Congratulations to 3rd year Hannah Healy on her recent achievements. U15 international schools player of the year and SSE WNL U17 player of the year.

Healy is just the second ever recipient of the Under 15s accolade. She joins the ranks with Jessie Stapleton of Palmerstown Community School who made history with the newly established category in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to our International programme in 2020 and 2021 but the programme returned this season to ensure a third consecutive title defence.

The introduction of this category is a wonderful acknowledgement of the contribution that FAI Schools are making to the player pathway at underage level.

Hannah captained the Republic of Ireland Schools to capturing the SAFIB Bob Docherty Cup and John Read Trophy last season. She was named Player of the Tournament as she led the line perfectly, scoring against England in the opening fixture and headed home the match winner against Scotland in the Final.

Rathdown Model United Nations (RADMUN)

This weekend there will be three delegations from Holy Faith with students from 3rd, 5th and 6th participating in the Rathdown Model United Nations with Mai Bennett of 6th year chairing the committee for Health and Youth.

Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations, and a roleplaying activity in which participants step into the shoes of UN delegates and discuss relevant global issues on behalf of their assigned country.

It is also considered a fun and social activity and helps students to

·     better understand the challenge faced by global issues

·     learn about different countries and cultures

·     develop public-speaking and improve confidence

·     make new friends

·     experience parliamentary procedure and a business atmosphere

At a MUN conference, delegates from different schools represent a given country (eg, Ethophia). Different delegates from each country attend different commitees (eg, Human Rights), where topics of a certain category are discussed.
