Junk Kouture

Our Transition Year students attended a recent workshop on the Junk Kouture competition which is a national contest which encourages young designers in second level education to create striking couture designs and impressive works of wearable art from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin. STUDENTS IN TY are busy putting their plans for the contest into action and are asking you if you high HIGH VIS JACKETS which you would like to donate to them as part of their outfit. They would appreciate any you might have for them. Please contact the school.
Art Exhibition

Students from Blackwater Community School will be holding an exhibition of art work in early October. The work will be on show at The Ministry of Art gallery located in the Monastery at the school. This exhibition will include a number of landscape paintings drawn by the Leaving Cert Applied students in May 2016. The students drew inspiration from the work of landscape artist David Hockney and produced their own colourful take on landscapes from their local area. The exhibition will open on Wednesday October 5th from 7pm to 8 pm. We look forward to seeing you there.

On this Friday September 30th first year students will take part in an Induction Day with their CAIRDE to Ardmore. the bus will leave school after tutor meeting and return for buses at 3.30pm. Students can wear their PE uniform but please bring a spare change of clothes and old runners. we will stop at Mc Donalds in Dungarvan on the way back. Please bring in €5 for the bus...... bring a packed lunch and money for McDonalds with you as well. Please ensure that page 11 of the Students Journal is signed re school tours/outings before Friday. An information letter fro parents/guardians has been given to all first years today Monday

TY HIKE tomorrow Tuesday 27 September. This is part of the requirement for Gaisce Achievement Award and is compulsory for all students unless exempted beforehand. Departure will be from the school at 9am after Tutor meeting/roll call. Please wear suitable clothing and bring food and drink as advised by organising teacher. There is a chance that the group will not be back in time for the school buses so please have an alternative in place, should this arise. All students are to attend school on Wednesday
