Congratulations to Tarryn Hill and Katie Whelan on being selected as joint winners of the 'Lyrics on the lap' art competition. As part of literacy development in the school we are launching a project that will display our favourite lyrics in 20 framed custom designed displays through the school's corridors , Tarryn and Katie's work will frame these displays.

Junk Kouture

Our Transition Year students attended a recent workshop on the Junk Kouture competition which is a national contest which encourages young designers in second level education to create striking couture designs and impressive works of wearable art from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin. STUDENTS IN TY are busy putting their plans for the contest into action and are asking you if you high HIGH VIS JACKETS which you would like to donate to them as part of their outfit. They would appreciate any you might have for them. Please contact the school.

Students from Blackwater Community School will be holding an exhibition of art work in early October. The work will be on show at The Ministry of Art gallery located in the Monastery at the school. This exhibition will include a number of landscape paintings drawn by the Leaving Cert Applied students in May 2016.
The students drew inspiration from the work of landscape artist David Hockney and produced their own colourful take on landscapes from their local area.
The exhibition will open on Wednesday October 5th from 7pm to 8 pm.

Vaccinations takes place tomorrow Wednesday for first year girls. The girls can wear their PE uniform for the day
