Dear Parents/Guardians,
In light of the extreme weather warnings and having consulted with the chair of the board it has been decided that Mount Carmel School will remain closed tomorrow January 24th, in line with the national guidance. This decision has been made to prioritise the safety and well-being of our school community.
Once the storm passes, I hope you can enjoy a restful and safe weekend. If you have any queries or concerns, feel free to discuss with me anytime.
Thank you for your support and stay safe.

As the cold weather continues, the HSE public health division has asked for our help in sharing the following important information with our school community:
- Flu is circulating widely in the community, with children being significantly affected.
- Anyone who is unwell should remain at home to help prevent the spread of infection.
- Cough and sneeze etiquette, along with regular hand hygiene, are essential to limiting the spread of illness.
- The free nasal flu vaccine for children aged 2–17 is still available through local pharmacies and GPs.

Dear Parents
It is almost time for our fabulous students to head off on their Christmas holidays. Tomorrow is the last day of term. We will have an awards ceremony in the school in the morning, where we will acknowledge some of the positive contributions the students make to school life. Following the awards ceremony, we will have our annual carol service for the students, which I know they will all enjoy.
The girls should be free to head home on their holidays at approximately 10:30 tomorrow morning.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the parents, students and their families a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
School will reopen on January 6th 2025.
Ms Carty
