LIFT(Leading Ireland’s Future Together) Programme

Dear Parent/Guardian ,

I recently took part in a Facilitator training day for a new country-wide project called LIFT Ireland. LIFT was launched in May 2018 by founders Joanne Hession, Sonya Lennon and David Hession.  It stands for Leading Ireland’s Future Together and the aim is that LIFT will build a better Ireland by developing leaders of character across our country.  You can read more about the initiative at www.liftireland.ie.

LIFT is a nationwide not-for-profit initiative which aims to improve the quality of leadership in Ireland ‘from the kitchen table to the classroom; and the clubhouse to the boardroom, through a focus on character and values.

There are various companies, not for profits, community groups, schools and sporting organization partnering with LIFT Ireland to date, all across the country.

HOW IT WORKS

The foundation of LIFT is a unique but really straightforward peer-learning ‘Roundtable’ process which is led by TY students who have been trained as facilitators.  The facilitator brings 4-6 people together for 40 minutes to discuss a chosen theme.  The TY facilitators are in the process of delivering the programme to 2nd years during SPHE.

These sessions build self-awareness around leadership values which have been chosen by the people of Ireland as being those most important to have.  These include Listening; Positive Attitude; Respect; Empathy & Understanding; Honesty & Integrity; Competence; Determination and Accountability.  This year we will focus on five themes.  All students have been given a booklet which they are encouraged to read it would be beneficial if you could discuss the theme with them also.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact myself or Ms Ryan.
