Return to School 12th April

Dear Parent/Guardian/Student/Staff, We hope this message finds you all well! We are looking forward to welcoming our full cohort of students and staff to our school building tomorrow Monday 12th April. Some will be excited to be returning, others may be a little apprehensive for a variety of reasons. We will endeavour to support all students to ease the transition back to the school building. Parent/Guardians must complete a “Return to School Declaration” form on this App before their student returns on Monday morning. You will receive a prompt at 6.30pm this evening and again at 8am tomorrow morning. You can access the relevant form in “Consent Forms” in the menu on the home screen of this App. Thank you to those that have completed the form to date. Please remind your student of the importance of maintaining social distance where possible, proper hand hygiene and that masks must be worn at all times in the school building and outside, where a distance of 2 metres cannot be maintained. The school building will be open to students from 8.30am. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you to please submit a note using the "Permission to Leave" facility on this App where your student may have to leave school during the day for an essential medical appointment/essential family reason. Students should not leave school for any other reason. All students must then sign out at the School Office before leaving our school. Where a student leaves our school without signing out at the Office, it will be deemed that they have left our school without permission. It is extremely important that we know where all students in our care are throughout the school day. To reduce the risk associated with Covid19, students that sign out during the school day must not return to our school until the next morning. Our wish is that everyone will have a positive and fulfilling last term of this extremely unusual school year!

School Mhuire scoops three awards at the virtual awards ceremony run by the Kildare Student Enterprise Programme. “An Asus Pentium Laptop, a set of Apple Airpods, €250 One for All vouchers and 3 coveted trophies are currently being couriered to Scoil Mhuire as a result of Scoil Mhuire’s phenomenon win at the Entrepreneurial awards last evening. Emma Halpin, Chloe Curran and Alex Carpenter founded, developed and are currently running their company “FoodUcate” which is an innovative cookbook to instil healthy eating patterns among children. “Covid Companion” run by enterprising students Lochlann Perris, Kenneth McDermott and Ethan Farrell aims to alleviate children’s fears and anxieties during Covid 19 and to help parents sprinkle some much needed positivity and happiness to their child. “Covid Companion” and “FoodUcate” impressed the judges with their tenacity, innovation and entrepreneurial talent. Mayor Mark Stafford addressed the students of “Covid Companion” and stated “Covid 19 has added a complete extra layer of complexity and additional challenges to companies but it is great to see a company like Covid Companion adapting, changing, surviving and thriving in today’s climate” Covid Companion was awarded First prize for Best Product Adaptability in the Covid Era. Peter Carey CEO of Kildare County Council stated that “the future is bright for FoodUcate” and awarded the girls with an award for Innovation in addition to Runner Up across 14 secondary schools and over 1,000 students in Kildare. Peter Carey congratulated the girls saying “what these enterprising students are learning is that with the right supports and encouragement, they can take an idea from the classroom and develop it into a real-life business. The skills the girls have developed such as business planning, market research, selling and team-work, will help them become more entrepreneurial throughout their future careers”. Huge congratulations to all the teams from the Business Department and all the school community in Scoil Mhuire. We are very proud of the achievement, dedication and perseverance of our students. Well done to all the teams that entered! A special word of thanks and appreciation to Ms. Deschenes for her dedication, continued support and guidance of our students in an array of competitions.

Dear Parent/Guardian, We wish to advise you of a change to how you will be alerted that your student is absent from school (Roll Call) each morning. We will no longer be using text messages. As and from today 24th March you will receive an alert through our school App. You will receive an Absence Request Form through the App when your student is absent, and no absence has been submitted through the App. Please complete the form immediately, it will only take less than a minute. We will then change the status of the absence from unexplained to explained on our system. As and from today all absences can only be explained through the App. Where you call the school Office, you must also submit an explanation using the relevant form on App. We have attached an image of the Absence Request Form. Take care, JP Cahillane
