Today I met with Mark O Dwyer Club Development Officer. A new Foróige Club was set up in Ballinroad every Friday night 7pm to 8.30pm TY students might be interested!!!!

BALLYMALOE COOKERY SCHOOL 2 DAY TRANSITION YEAR COURSE Date: Mon 16th Dec Transition year is a time of learning skills outside the classroom. This cookery course has been specially created for transition year students. What will happen? Students will learn a variety of skills and cover a range of topics both in demonstration and hands-on sessions. In a busy couple of days students will learn how to make homemade bread, jam, soups, yummy starters, main courses, desserts, biscuits. Students will also have a guided educational tour around our organic farm, gardens and greenhouse. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the farm and herb and wild foods on the Organic farm. The course will be guided by our expert tutors and you will come away with a repertoire of recipes to use at home or cook for friends and family. Many thanks to the girls who tackled the weeds in the memorial garden today during Ms Cashin’s Horticulture class. It’s looking better and ready for some planters. This memorial garden was the inspiration of Fr O Donnell OSA.

Congratulations to Jenny McCloskey for winning 1st prize in the Eurofins BPT Essay Competition. She won a €250 voucher, 1 week of work experience and a class tour of the facility with fun and explosive demonstrations. Well done.

Well done to our Debating team who travelled to Cashel Community School on Monday night to oppose the motion “The EU needs an army” It was an excellent debate that resulted in a draw. We also had 12 supporters that travelled on the bus to cheer on the team.

On Monday Ruth Landy Ryan, a nurse in Shandon Medical Clinic, addressed 2 TY class groups about Sexually Transmitted Infections. She provided facts and figures about STIs among Irish Teenagers.

This week Pete, Louis and Darragh secured Work Placement in the Department of Exercise Science at Waterford Institute of Technology they were in the college for 4 days this offered them a taste of college life.
