Policies Recently Reviewed and Published

In the last year, we have reviewed, created and approved several policies which are important to daily school life. They are: The Anti-bullying Policy (March 23), The Concussion Policy (Dec 22), The Substance Misuse Policy (Nov 23) and most recently the Code of Behaviour (Jan 24).
The Code of Behaviour has had several changes made in particular with regard to lateness and the sanction of detention, to the confiscation of phones and their collection, and the sanction for mitching (leaving school without permission) which has been changed from a 3 day suspension to having to sit a 2 hour Saturday Morning Detention. We feel that we have moved with the times and what parents also see to be common sense and ask parents that they read through the most relevant sections to their own son(s). At all times, we try to work with students and their parents/guardians to maintain a calm and peaceful school environment which promotes respect and enables learning.
Please find school policies on the App under the tab 'School' and then click on 'School Code & Policies'. Once in that you can scroll to find most information about our school, programmes, policies, etc.
Thank you for your support.
CBS condemns Thursday's Events in Dublin and all Rascism and Violence
Created : 25 Nov 2023, 11:02 AM
Archived : 25 Jan 2024, 12:00 AM
The Management and Staff of St Mary’s CBS totally condemn the events which unfolded in Dublin on Thursday evening. As a multicultural, multinational and multilingual school, we want our students and their families to know that they are welcome to our school, to our town and to our country. As Irish, we know how emigration has been and continues to be a constant part of our heritage and we appreciate how well the Irish are welcomed and treated abroad. Violence and rascism have no part in a civilised and modern Ireland and understand that many will be fearful of Thursday night’s events heralding a change in how they are treated in future.
All our lives are valuable. All our children are to be protected and supported in whatever way we can, as a school. As always, RESPECT, is the most important value in St Mary’s CBS, and we assure you that it will continue to be so. Take care.

Junior Rugby Team Seal Semi Final Spot

Our Junior Rugby team took on St. Mels College on Thursday in their quarter final. ️ St. Mels were quicker off the mark with a try from their scrum half after a good chip and chase within the first 5 minutes, but he couldn't convert his own try.
As the CBS got more into the game the trys started to flow, our first came from no.8 Shane Foley as he powered straight through the St.Mels defender to crash over, with the conversion just gone wide, the game was level at 5-5. That wasn't the story for long though, with centre Danny Gavin at the end of a good move to take the lead for the Brothers, unable to convert our second try we led at half time 10-5. ️ The boys came out rearing to go again in the second half with big hits from Finn Darcy and Bill Rigney rattling the St.Mels players and they couldn't cope with the strong carries from Shane Foley, Daragh Lalor and Eoghan Deegan. ️It would be a brilliant line break from the ball out quickly from the ruck let Dan Murrell slide into the corner to put them 10 points ahead. Finn Darcy, with his persistence throughout the game, broke the line again, but was tackled just short of the line, then Shane Foley picked the ball out quick and scored for his second try of the match. Our subs had a big impact to help close out the game with Mark Fennell, Joe Larkin, and Alex Walsh having big presences in the match. It wasn't the end of the CBS scoring though, with David Timmons dodging and weaving through defenders before tapping the ball down and Joe Larkin splitting the posts with a perfect conversion. More subs rolled in with Jim Hanamy having immediate effect, receiving an offload and dancing between tackles before diving over the whitewash to end our great display. ️The score at full-time was 32-5, with MOTM having to be split between Danny Gavin and Daragh Lalor.
