1st & 5th year student option subjects
Created : 26 Oct 2023, 10:29 AM
Archived : 26 Dec 2023, 12:00 AM

Tomorrow, Friday 27th October, is the last day on which a 1st or 5th year student may change their option subject. To do so the student must bring a note from his parent/guardian stating what subject he is changing from and wants to move into. If the class is already full, the change cannot be made. Subjects have now been taught for 10 weeks, which is a lot of catching up to do. Any student who is moving must make that effort to catch up themselves, in their own time. I caution anyone from making a change so late into the term, as they have missed a lot. That is why this week must be the last week. Thank you.

I hope that all first years in particular have settled in well and will return from their Midterm Break more confident and relaxed for the remainder of Term One. Enjoy the week off all.

Today our 5th and 6th Year LCA’s took a stroll into town to visit Paddy Critchley’s ‘Ragged Trousers’ exhibition in the Dunamaise Arts Centre.
They then popped into the new town library where they each signed up for their library card and got a tour from Tommy Scott showing all the new library has to offer students.
Thanks to @paddycritchleyart , @dunamaise.arts.centre and @laois_libraries for facilitating us. ️

2nd Year Footballers Top Their Group

Our 2nd Year Footballers faced a strong Presentation Carlow team on Friday.
St. Mary’s CBS started well, with David Timmons knocking over a free. Carlow quickly responded scoring the next two points but the CBS didn’t let that affect them as they gathered momentum and lead 1-9 to 1-3 at half time.
The second half had a slow start and it was Carlow who kicked the first point before Portlaoise pulled one back. Two goals from Shane Carroll really kicked the lads into gear and Ethan O Connor also hit the net. Despite Carlow’s late fight back they fell short and the final score was 4-11 to 4-6 to St. Mary’s CBS. The lads now top their group with 2 wins and advance to the next round. Well done all.
Special thanks to TY’s Darren Brennan and David Reddin for the match report and photos.
