Are you having difficulty accessing your son's Report?

If you log into Tyro to see your son's Summer Report, but don't see it immediately, it is because before the office closed last Friday, we rolled over our database from 2024/25 into the next school year 2025/26 - so currently your sons are now listed a year ahead of where they were a month ago. All schools must do this before July.

You can easily see the 2024/25 Summer Reports by logging in, choosing Assessments, it will look blank which is because the site is in the 2025/26 school year. So ....look to the top left side and you will see 2025/26 academic year - click on this and select 2024/25 academic year from the drop down menu. Your son's Summer Report will automatically appear. It needs to be in the year the report was given for.

All parents/guardians received their invitation from Tyro last February. Many accepted and became eligible to view their son's timetable, reports, etc. If you haven't done so, you need to go into the email Inbox which you gave the school which is the one you received the invitation to join Tyro on. Go back to last February. It could be Tyro or it could be St Marys CBS, I'm not sure as I personally did not send it. Tyro did. Many of us have 2 or 3 email addresses. Figure out which one of yours is linked to the CBS Tyro (what did you put on his application form?) and it will go smoothly from now on.

For the remainder of the summer, if you are having any issues with Tyro please ring their Support Line which is (01) 2707749. Their email is: <21>support@tyro.school. You will be asked for the school's Roll number which is 63430G. If you do ring and haven't this roll number handy just give the name of our school.

I wish you all a lovely summer. The School Office will reopen on Monday August 11th. Do not ring before then, the phones are not taking messages. Thank you. MM

All applicants – Payment or medical card details - closing date 6 June 2025

The Bus Éireann family portal is now open to accept payments or enter medical card details until Friday, 6 June 2025. Payments or medical cards entered after the deadline date will be deemed late.  A late payment or entering medical card details may mean that a ticket is not available.

The portal will close from 7 June 2025 for a 3-week period to allow Bus Éireann time to plan for the new school year.

Payments or medical card details must be submitted for:

• new applicants, and;

• pupils who have previously applied/availed of school transport and require a seat on a service for the 25/26 school year.

Children (who are eligible for school transport) and who possess valid medical cards (GMS Scheme) are exempt from paying the annual charge however, their medical card details must be submitted to Bus Éireann by the closing date.

Ticket Charges

For the 2025/26 school year charges of €50 per student at primary level and €75 per student at post-primary level will apply, with a cap per family of €125.  Eligible children with a full medical card and children who are eligible for SEN transport services remain exempt from the annual ticket charge.

Customer Call Centre

Bus Éireann has put in place a dedicated customer care call centre to assist families specifically with School Transport queries during the busy summer period. Families that have queries can contact the call centre on: LoCall 0818 919 910. Operating hours are 09.00 – 17.00 Monday to Friday.

Families can also contact Bus Éireann their website: www.buseireann.ie/schooltransport by submitting a query via: https://www.buseireann.ie/inner.php?id=769,

Updates on the application process can be found on Gov.ie/schooltransport and on buseireann.ie/schooltransport

Eligibility

Children are eligible for transport at primary level where they reside not less than 3.2 kilometres from and are attending their nearest national school, as determined by the Department/Bus Éireann, having regard to ethos and language and at post-primary level where they reside not less than 4.8 kilometres from and are attending their nearest post-primary school/education centre as determined by the Department/Bus Éireann, having regard to ethos and language.

  • Children who are eligible for school transport and who have completed the application and payment process on time will be accommodated on school transport services where such services are in operation and where capacity exists.
  • Children who are not eligible for school transport, but who complete the application and payment process on time, will be considered for spare seats that may exist after eligible children have been facilitated; such seats are referred to as concessionary seats.
  • Because of the nature of concessionary transport for non-eligible children and the priority of providing places for eligible children, there may be an excess of demand over supply for concessionary places, in these cases Bus Éireann will allocate tickets for spare seats using an agreed selection process.
  • In addition, temporary alleviation measures will continue for the 2025/2026 school year, this means that transport will be provided, where such services are in operation and where capacity exists, for pupils who are eligible for transport to their nearest school and are attending their second nearest school/post primary centre and who apply and pay on time.

Pupils from Ukraine

Pupils from Ukraine who are currently on school transport do not need to re-apply for the 2025/2026 school year unless they have changed address or school.

New applications – living independently or with host families

All families who are living independently or with host families who wish to apply for mainstream school transport for their child for the 2025/26 school year, and who are not currently on school transport, are asked to apply and pay or enter their medical card details via the Bus Éireann family portal, which can be found here.

This includes families who have moved address since their last application and/or pupils who are changing schools for the 2025/26 school year.

New applications – living in accommodation centre

New applications for school transport for the 2025/26 school year for pupils living in accommodation centres must be made by the school principals. School principals should forward the information required to their local REALT.

A new application is:

  • a pupil who is enrolling for the first time in school;
  • has moved schools or;
  • has moved to a new accommodation centre.

The information provided by you will be submitted by members of the REALT to Bus Éireann who will arrange for school transport to be provided where it is possible to do so.

SPHE You've Got This Book 1 & 2 & 3 - please return/donate!
Created : 04 Jun 2025, 12:43 PM
Archived : 04 Aug 2025, 12:00 AM

Last week when I asked 1st years to return their Irish, English and Maths texts, I was unaware that your SPHE You've Got This Book 1 was a text, not a workbook. Therefore we need them back as soon as possible to distribute them to the new 1st years coming in. When you begin 2nd year in August, you will get your SPHE Book 2.

The 2nd years also need to return their SPHE You've Got This Book  2 which they were using in the 2024-25 school year, so that we can hand them on in August to the new 2nd years.

Finally, any 3rd years who no longer want their SPHE You've Got This Book 3, can also leave them in the GPA during the week. Thank you very much

A warning to those who travel to school on the N80, the Stradbally Portlaoise Road, that there are significant roadworks causing delays since today.

For those doing exams we advise that you leave earlier than normal or vary your route, especially in the morning time.

All exam students need to be IN their school by 9am on the first morning of their exams.

We want to take this opportunity to wish all students in both the CBS and the girls in Scoil Chriost Ri the best of luck tomorrow and the following days.
1st Years to return some texts today

Well, that year is complete. Both you and your sons have survived it quite well. The next 4-5 years will fly by now!

All 1st years were reminded to return their English, Maths and Irish texts this morning. They were also asked to clean out their lockers. They will be given new lockers downstairs in August, as they will be 2nd Years. Their exam this morning finishes st 11 and there are no buses until 1.15. They may need some time to do texts and lockers.

Their exams must still be marked and so Reports will not be ready until the week of  June 16th. REPORTS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE ON THE TYRO APP, NONE WILL BE POSTED HOME.

If you are not on the Tyro App already, please download it and register today. If you have any difficulties, please ring Elaine in the office.

To clarify- we use 2 different Apps for different functions:

1. This Unique App gives news and notifications, takes payments, has school polices for your information, will do late notes and permission slips from August 2025 and much more of those type of things. It allows us not to have to post everything. Posting 1 letter to all parents in just this year group, as many have separate addresses, costs approximately €320. To every year group would cost € 1500 plus. If we post one thing, people will naturally expect other pieces of school info to also arrive by post. So we use the Unique App for everything notification wise.

2. Our Tyro App informs you of your son’s academic reports, his timetable, you will be sent emails and texts directly to it from now on, not to your personal email Inbox. If your son is given a Detention from September the letter will not be posted it will be found in your Tyro Notifications. Texts also will arrive to your Tyro App. You will need to turn on your Notifications in order to know there is a message for you. T his is really important.

We in St Mary’s wish you all a great summer, and hope your sons come back to us in September safe, happy and ready to ‘do their best’ in the year ahead. I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and understanding throughout the last year. Without that we could not provide all the extras that we put on.

It has been our most successful year to date extracurricular wise, not just in sport - but in winning the All Ireland A Basketball, 1st year Hurling, Senior Debating, our Musical winning a national AIMS Award, many national successes in track & field, several students representing Ireland in their own individual sports, and once again, several of our TY’s representing us at international Microsoft competitions during the coming summer.

Thank you and take care. MM

3rd Year Graduation Mass
Created : 27 May 2025, 8:10 PM
Archived : 27 Jul 2025, 12:00 AM
Last week we celebrated our 3rd Year Graduation Mass—a meaningful gathering that marked the end of our journey together as class groups: Abbeyleix, Ballyfin, Camross, Durrow, and Emo. The theme chosen by the students, Friendship, served as the backdrop to the celebration, highlighting the bonds formed and memories shared over the past three years.

A standout feature of the ceremony was the 3rd Year banner, beautifully designed and completed by Hritvik Bhatt, Kyle’s Superiano, Shane Conroy, Leo Moran Burke, and Brian Keane Maher. The banner carried the message Same Roots, Different Path, capturing the spirit of unity and individuality as students prepare to take the next step—whether it be Transition Year, the LCA programme, or the traditional Leaving Certificate.

Mr. Brennan, the 3rd Year Year-Head, congratulated the boys on their many achievements and wished them every success in the upcoming exams. He encouraged them to continue showing up for themselves and to always strive to do their best.

Thank you to Fr Vard for celebrating the Mass with our students and teachers. Another note of thank you to Derek Enendu and Antoni Calka for distributing communion.

Finally, Mrs Murphy spoke encouragingly to the third-year group and reminded them that these final days are important to keep a routine in place in a run up to the exams.

Thank you to Antoni Calki and Derek Enendu for distributing Holy Communion.

It was a fitting end to a significant chapter—one marked by friendship, growth, and a shared journey now branching into new beginnings.
