Overview of the workshop:
Students will be introduced to the five steps to exam success in a dynamic and structured way. They will examine brain plasticity and its role in success. They will explore a range of multi-sensory study and revision strategies. Maximise will also examine the role of sleep, nutrition and technologies in overall wellbeing. Students will devise an exam countdown planner as part of an exploration of effective time management tools and that builds on the evidence around spaced practice. Finally, students will be shown how to prepare psychologically for exam time and how to maximise exam techniques.
Each student receives an A4 booklet during the seminar that also contains follow-on activities.

St. Mary’s CBS 10-11 FCJ Bunclody 6-5
Having had a very comprehensive victory over Coláiste Iosagáin Portarlington, in their opening group game, our 1st year footballers had a hard-fought win today away to FCJ Bunclody.
In wet and windy conditions, CBS captain Fionn Delaney won the toss and opted to play with the wind. Portlaoise opened the scoring with points from the outstanding Darragh O’Riordan and Jack Moore. O’Riordan added a further point after Fionn Delaney’s goal effort came off the post.
CBS won the resulting kick out and Vinny Byrne fed the ball to Luke Devaney, who stepped inside his man and kicked a lovely point off his left boot. Portlaoise were beginning to dominate all the play with the wind at their back, and Fionn Delaney scored three superb goals to leave the score 3-5 to 0-2 after 20 minutes. Rian Daly and O’Riordan added two points before Noah Finn and Delaney scored two more goals for CBS. Bunclody’s heads never dropped and they finished the half strongly, scoring 3 goals in the final 6 minutes. It would have been four, but for a heroic point-blank save from Dylan Fitzpatrick in the CBS goals. The first half finished 5-7 to 4-3.
Now playing with the strong wind, Bunclody opened the second half brightly, scoring 1-2 and leaving only two points between the sides. It was anyone’s game now, with fierce tackles and relentless pressure put on by both teams. During this period, the half back line of Devaney, Brooklyn McCarthy and James Lynch were imperious, while midfielder Tadas Sirvaitis covered every blade of grass to quell the Bunclody comeback. Time after time, our full back line was tested but Finn Moore , Eoghan Dunne and Zac Scully held their own under immense pressure.
Fortunately for CBS, Darragh O’Riordan, Fionn Delaney and Ryan Fennell scored three goals, to put more daylight between the teams. Noah Finn then added two more points.
Bunclody got a goal back but CBS finished the stronger with a lovely taken goal from substitute Conall Lalor. Wing forward Jack Moore put in a man-of-the-match performance for winning so many kick-outs that were the launch pad for many CBS attacks.
Overall it was a great day for CBS as our second team defeated Bunclody's second team 8-9 to 5-1. Well done all.
