Our 1st Year Footballers were also out on Thursday for their first blitz of the year in the COE. With two teams entered the action started straight away! The Black team played their first match vs Mountmellick in what was a very tight game throughout but unfortunately ended in defeat. The CBS had a disallowed goal late on in what appeared to be a questionable decision but the lads never gave up. This game had great performances from Calvagh Callinan and Darragh Fingleton. The Red team were out next against a very strong Knockbeg side, again a close encounter but unfortunately the CBS were unlucky again. 

Things picked up for the Red team in the second match in ‘El Classico’ vs our neighbours Portlaoise College. It was a high scoring game for the CBS with Ethan O’Connor, Eoin Fitzpatrick, and Noah Lawlor all contributing to the win. The Black team then faced Knockbeg, who rifled trough a couple of goals early on but the lads kept their heads and fought hard with great performances from Adam Whelan and Darragh Ging. 

The Red teams final game saw them come up against Heywood in what proved to be another high scoring performance from the brothers. A special mention must go to the backs who played superb with Senan O’Connell, Eoghan Fennell and Kian Day gelling well and Rory Kennedy as reliable as he was throughout all games. The Black teams final match was vs Coláiste Íosagáin. The CBS defended strong and key players in this game were Ryan O’Connor and Darragh Keenan who gave everything.

A fantastic start to the year for our 1st Year footballers in what was their first time together. Well done to all players and coaches! We are looking forward to the year ahead with them.

Our First Year Rugby team took part in their first blitz which took place in North Kildare Rugby Club last Thursday. It was a great first day out with all players getting game time and games being won, lost and drawn to create great character development. Thanks to Ms. Walsh and her TY Team for all their hard work with the group. 

We are looking forward to this teams first competitive game.

Both lads play with Portlaoise Rugby Club and are excellent role models for younger players in the Club. 

The winner was Prince C Iheme who plays with the Panthers and came from Scoil Bhride NS. 

We are looking forward to watching all our First Year teams’ successes in the coming school year. 

The Senior Volleyball team had their first outing this week against Elphin and Roscommon College l.

The boys played great games and qualified into the next round!
