Our next Parent Council Meeting will be on Thursday the 14th November, at 7.30. Please come along on that night. Meetings are never long and the discussion is often informative.
We have decided to close the school completely tomorrow as Bus Eireann are not running buses now and that is a large majority of the bus-going student population. Many of you will struggle to get them to school and few will be in anyway. Since Laois and surrounding counties have been added to the Red Warning, it would be unsafe for adults and children, and safety is our main priority. Please take care everybody and see you on Tuesday.
Hi,
I've spoken to several of the Bus Operators and here is what the plan is ( at 8pm tonight)
Martleys, Universal (O'Brien's) and Deegans Buses will collect an hour later than normal. This means that if you are normally collected at 7.30, you will be collected at 8.30 tomorrow morning and so on.
O'Connells don't seem to be running a service in the morning at all.
Slieve Bloom - their phone went to voicemail several times so I can't say what they're doing.
I will update you if I hear anything else. Thank you and keep safe. MM
Dear parents,
There is a free webinar taking place next Tuesday the 14th of November at 7pm called The importance of sleep for our teenagers. The main speaker is Lucy Wolfe and she will be giving some information and guidance around this topic. Lucy is best known for the books she has written on sleep for young children, but she has prepared some very useful material specifically for this webinar and the parents of teenagers.
You can register for this free webinar using this link:
https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/681709019027
Parents can also submit questions on the night through chat or in advance by email to info@planetyouth.ie.
School will begin at 10am tomorrow morning, due to the storm and wind warning issued this evening.
I understand that many of you depend on buses to get to school, but I cannot speak for what they will do - whether they will run an hour later or not. I doubt any of them will move before 9am, as the wind warning lasts until 10am. Of course things could change overnight too. Any information that I receive will be put on the App. A text was sent out at 6.15pm. Keep safe everyone overnight.
