Night Study/Homework Club

This Wed afternoon, 24/1/18, there will be NO Night Study or Homework Club due to the 2nd year Staff Meeting. Classes will end at 3.45 for all students.

This Wednesday, from 4.15 until 6.45, parents of 2nd years can meet with their sons teachers. to discuss their progress. Classes will end at 3.45 for all students. There will be no Night Study or Homework Club on that evening.

TY students have a busy programme next week ..... Monday 27th all 3 classes leave at about 10am and will walk to the Dunamaise theatre to see the much acclaimed film 'Condemned to Remember' ; the theme is the Holocaust. The cost to students is 3 Euro. Full uniform including jackets to be worn. Tuesday 28th The second half of TY go to Castletown on retreat i.e. Those who have not been there already whilst the remainder go to University Limerick for a sample of college lectures and college life. Both groups need bus money ,5 euro. Full uniform of course and the Limerick group depart at 8.15. Thursday 30th. There is a history trip to Croke Park museum and Sky Walk. Price including bus is 15 Euro. Please give money immediately to Mr. D. McEvoy. Full uniform. E.O'Connell L.Gillson

Christmas Exam Timetables have been finalised and are now available in the Examination Section of the school app. Please check these to see if any changes have been applied to your particular timetable. In addition, I am attaching examination rules - please ensure you have read them and that you are familiar with them. -All students must wear full school uniform. -There will be no signing in late or signing out early prior to or after examinations. All students must be in for 9.00am and will stay until 4pm. -Your designated areas for the small breaks and lunch breaks will remain the same. -Exam Answer Books are now on sale. Please make sure you have one for each of your examinations. These can be purchased from the main office of from Mr. Byrne at 3 for €1. -Ensure you have checked your timetable well in advance of exam week, noting the venue of each exam as these may change regularly. -There will be no eating in the exam centre. Ensure you bring all your belongings with you at the end of each exam and place all rubbish in the bin. -If you are not sitting a particular timetabled exam, study rooms have been made available on your timetable. Attend in those venues ensure you have all your necessary textbooks for studying for your next exam. -Each student must have their own material for their exams, for example, calculator, rulers, eraser, pens, pencils, T-squares, log tables etc. Sharing materials will not be permitted. -In addition, ensure you have books for your next exam with you, for which you can study if you have finished an examination early. -Students are not permitted to communicate in any way with another student during an exam. If a student attempts to communicate with someone else , his test will be cancelled, and a comment to that effect will appear on his Christmas Exam Report. -Mobile phones are not permitted in the exam centres. -Behaviour causing a disruption to others during the exams, or study classes, will result in your removal from the centre. -For the smooth running of the examinations we ask for parents' co-operation by ensuring your son arrives on time for all exams and adheres to these rules.

5th year LCVP Enterprise trip!

The 5th year L.C.V.P. students visited Caffrey's Chocolate Warehouse today in Dublin today as part of their Enterprise Module. After a very informative talk on the running of the business, from logistics, staff and marketing to the history of chocolate making and ingredients, students got the opportunity to decorate and package their own chocolate treats. Ms. Williams would be impressed with some of the artistic designs displayed by some of her Art students.
Great Day at Laois Cross Country Championships!!

CBS were well represented today in the Laois XC Champs with many medals brought home! First up was Anthony Idris winning the minor boys race followed closely by Ben McDonald in 3rd. They were also on the winning boys team which included Callum Leonard and Cathal Molloy! In the Intermediate we had a great teams performance led by Jack Stone, Thomas Dunne and Darragh Corcoran. With Adam Kennedy anchoring the team to victory! Adam Holden having a fantastic run pipped on the line to receive the silver medal place running a stormer! Congrats to all who competed on the day!!!!
Zambia Immersion Project Information Night Rescheduled

There will be an Information Night for parents/guardians of students of current 3rd Year & Transition Year students who are interested in the Zambia Immersion Project on Tuesday January 16th at 7 pm. The Zambia Immersion Project will be travelling to Livingstone, Zambia in February 2019 with 15/16 students & 5 teachers from St. Mary's CBS. While there we will work in the local orphanage, schools and health clinic. If there are any questions regarding this information night, please contact the school and ask to speak to any of the teachers leading the project.
