Dear Parents/Guardians,
Please find attached a short guide to Junior Cycle Other Areas of Learning.
Other areas of learning are SCHOOL RELATED activities that you have taken part in outside of the classroom. These activities are very important in helping you develop key skills. Each student must select at least two Other Areas of Learning they have engaged with over the last three years.
We are asking students to complete their OALs using the attached link if they have not already done so in their Coding class.
Students were given an introductory class in SPHE this week in how to complete their OALs.
Please ensure your son has completed the attached Google Form by tomorrow .

Dear TY Parents/Guardians,
As I mentioned during my presentation for incoming TY 2024/25 students, parental/guardian support is one of the key factors in ensuring a successful and valuable Transition Year experience. Now that the first term of the Transition Year Programme is over and we are well into the new year, we would greatly appreciate your feedback by completing the survey linked below.
This survey has been developed in collaboration with the senior leadership team and the parents' council to ensure a comprehensive understanding of our school community's perspectives. Your insights will help the school refine and enhance the programme, both for future students and in addressing any immediate concerns, particularly regarding attendance. The survey should take only a few minutes to complete.
Thank you for your time and support.
Kind Regards,
Stephen Coy
Naas CBS TY Coordinator

After a very early start, the fifth year group arrived safely in Berlin .
They enjoyed some sight-seeing in lovely weather.
On Friday last week Martin Nolan architect was a guest visitor to our school to host the 'Architects in Schools' workshop which is kindly supported by the Irish Architecture Foundation. Transition Year students participating in the workshop gained an insight into the working life of an architect. Students were introduced methods of working that are used to create innovative solutions to design problems.
Students were set the design task of re-imagining the use of the library space in the school. They were given free rein to create a new use for the space and enjoyed the opportunity to explore their designs through sketches and models. Participating students worked collaboratively as they would in a design studio and each group presented their designs at the conclusion of the event. The workshop was a valuable and enjoyable experience for all involved.
Huge thanks to Mr.Fitzpatrick for facilitating the event.
Thank you to everyone who has submitted an application for the Transition Year 2025/26 programme!
The next stage of the process will be small group interviews, which will take place after the Mocks and mid-term break.
I will send out further details on February 24th.
For anyone who missed the initial deadline, the application form is still available to complete.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at <19>sc@naascbs.ie.
Best of luck to all the lads in their exams!
