Today Ms McGann started recording 3rd year CBAs with her Business Studies Students. Fionn costed a class trip, Mark discussed the Fair Trade movement, Katie presented the Effects of Covid on Businesses, Caoimhe spoke about local company Norris Bros and Diarmuid informed us about Bill Gates. Excellent presentations with great support materials and PowerPoints. Well done

A wonderful morning for our TY students interested in Medicine. They had a Zoom seminar with talks from consultants in 4 specialties and a junior doctors and current medical students Q and A session. The zoom was from the National Maternity Hospital Holles Street Dublin.

Last Wednesday Eileen Kennedy from AWARE delivered Week 1 of the programme to one of our TY classes. The programme runs for 4 weeks and the other TY classes will enjoy the programme after Christmas. WEEK 1: UNDERSTANDING YOUR FEELINGS This session introduces cognitive behavioural (CBT) and helps the group understand that what we think and do influences how we feel. ARE YOU STRONG ENOUGH TO KEEP YOUR TEMPER (1,2,3 Breath) This session helps recognise what winds us up, and how to control anger and improve happiness and relationships.

Best of luck to Ronan Meleady, he prepared an excellent speech and entered the Annual Europe Direct Soapbox Competition which took place online this year. He recorded a three minute video against the soapbox topic: Everyone wants to go back to the pre-Covid way of life The winner will receive an iPad mini and their video will be submitted to represent their region at the national competition where there will be a prize of €1000. We have created a Waterford Greenway Calendar for 2021 with the help of photographer John Foley, Printmaster & our teacher. The calendars are great quality and show beautiful pictures of the Waterford Greenway. They are the ideal Christmas present and can be bought for just €10. Gavin Christopher & Fearghal Slevin will be selling them in school and they are also available in shops locally.

Well done to our Concern Debating Team. This evening we recorded the speeches which were excellent. Gearóid, Jenny, Ronan and Finn made a great effort. They are competing against Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine, Kenmare, Co. Kerry. TY1 students welcomed Garda Aidan McCarthy this morning. He gave them facts and the reality of what he experiences as the JLO in Dungarvan Garda Station. He spoke to the students about the importance of looking out for each other and safe socialising.
