Well done to Erin Saunier O'Brien in 1st year who was selected for this year’s session of the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland.
She had an audition in October and was selected for the winter and summer course 2024.
The NYOI was created in 1970 and is made of approximately 105 young musicians, from 12 to 19 years old.
She is one of the five flute players who are part of the orchestra, and plays both the flute and the piccolo.
They had a one week rehearsal session in December that ended with a concert in the Helix Concert Hall in Dublin on January, 3.
They played Sibelius’ violin concerto in D minor with Mairead Hickey as a soloist, and two French pieces, Le Songe de Cléopatre from Mel Bonis and La Mer from Claude Debussy.
Congratulations Erin!
Happy New Year to everyone in our school community.
