3rd Years Donate Food to Charity and Write Letters to Elderly Sisters

The girls in class 3/1 organized a food collection throughout the school and donated all the food to a very grateful Food Cloud for distribution to worthy charities in the Galway area. Then, conscious that the elderly Dominican and Mercy sisters on Taylor's Hill are unable to have visitors or move about freely, the girls wrote letters to each of the sisters, a gesture which was very much appreciated by them.
Transition Year Information Meeting for 3rd Year Students and Parents

The school will host an online Transition Year information meeting for 3rd Year students and parents on Thursday 4th February 2021 at 7:30pm. This meeting will outline important information about the TY programme and help students and parents make an informed decision as to the most appropriate path to take after Junior Cert. It is important that all 3rd Year students and at least one parent of each student attend this meeting, even if at this stage the student does not intend doing TY. The Galway Education Centre is hosting a webinar for parents in supporting their children's learning journey on Monday 1st February 2021 @ 7.00 p.m. The focus of this particular talk will deal with the following aspects of learning: 1. How to simply get started and the importance of systems. 2. The science behind motivation and how to apply it. 3. The importance of clarity - how to get it and maintain it. 4. Noise - minimising distraction and building protected time. 5. Changing our approach to "time at the desk" - what the science tells us about optimising study and homework time. 6. How you can encourage a learning environment (without the stress!). Chromebooks Loaned to Almost 90 Students

It was great to be able to distribute Chromebooks to almost 90 of our students on Friday to help with online classes over the coming weeks. Hopefully everyone is now prepared and ready to go virtual on Monday morning.
