Leaving Cert Results

This year's Leaving Cert exam results will be available from the school at 9am on Tuesday, 13th August. We wish all our students the very best of luck with their results and would remind them to ensure that they have registered with the State Examinations Commission on www.examinations.ie.
Reminder to 6th Years to Register with SEC Before LC Results

A reminder to all students who sat their Leaving Cert to register with the State Examinations Commission website BEFORE your results come out next week. You can do this at www.examinations.ie/candidate-portal/ using your exam number and the PIN you were given. You can only apply for re-checks, viewing etc. online so it is important that you register before next week.
School Book Grant Form

The application form to apply for the school book grant for September 2019 is now available from the school website: www.taylorshill.ie/downloads/book_grant_form_19-20.pdf or by collection from the school office. This grant is available to the parents of students with a valid in-date medical card (GP only cards are not acceptable). To apply for this grant please complete the application form and return it to the school office, along with a copy of a valid in-date medical card no later than 3.30pm on Wednesday 19th June 2019.
Mia's Equestrian Success

Well done to 1st Year student Mia Higgins on her success in the recent inter-schools equestrian competition.. Mia was part of the winning team made up of students from Taylor's, St. Enda's and Salerno. She also came 3rd in the individual category, producing a clear round in the opening jumping and a super clear in the novice individuals. In the final jump off she went clear again in a fast time. This was a great achievement in a very strong class.
€3,300 Raised for Regina's Fight for Life

Over€3,300 was raised in less than 1 week by the students and staff of Taylor's for Regina Duffy, a teacher in St Colman’s College, Claremorris, who is suffering from a rare form of brain cancer and needs to raise over €250,000 to pay for treatment in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. This fundraising effort was coordinated by Ms. Steede-Duffy and Ms. Kennedy and included a whole-school skip-athon, a bake sale and a staff coffee morning amongst other activities. Well done to everyone for the fantastic generosity of spirit that was displayed and the manner in which both students and staff threw themselves into helping fund raise for Regina.
Second Hand Book & Uniform Sale

REMINDER: The annual Parents' Council second-hand book and uniform sale will take place tomorrow, Friday 21st June from 2-4pm in Rosary Hall. If you are selling items, please ensure you arrive early. Regardless of whether you are buying or selling, please make sure you bring change with you and are aware of next year's booklists, editions etc.

Online Marking for Junior & Leaving Cert Exams

This year, some of the Junior and Leaving Cert examinations will be corrected using online marking systems. While this will involve little change for students, the State Examinations Commission has provided information about this system which is available at www.examinations.ie/?l=en&mc=ex&sc=omd
UN Global Schools Visit

The Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Niall Burgess, along with fellow DFA officials Mr. John Concannon and Ms. Claire Coughlan, and Commandant. Colin Campbell of the Irish Defense Forces, visited the school to present it with a UN flag as part of the UN's global schools project. Mr. Burgess and Mr. Concannon spoke to the girls about the role of the UN in the world; Ireland's important role in the UN; and the work of Irish embassies and diplomats across the globe. Ms. Coughlan told the girls about her recent experience coordinating Irish aid efforts in the war-torn Central African Republic, and Cmd. Cambpell spoke about his time working in Kosovo and the Lebanon as a UN peace keeper. The speakers gave the girls an excellent insight into the international roles undertaken by Ireland across the globe and stressed the importance of that work and Ireland's influence and impact relative to its size. The girls asked the speakers many probing and insightful questions and gave feedback on their priorities which Mr. Burgess in particular was eager to receive.
