Congratulations to all students for participating in English week. It was a great success. Thanks to Molly Twomey for speaking to our BCS students on Monday. Well done to all those that took part in our poetry and book hunt competitions throughout the week. Our 6th year's also thoroughly enjoyed the production of Macbeth at the Royal Theatre in Waterford today.

Ireland’s sixth Climate Action Week will run from October 10th to 16th 2022. Climate Action Week is all about starting a climate conversation with people in your life who might not know much about climate change, or fully understand it, or know what to do about it, yet! We ask all our students and families to be mindful of any small changes that we can make.
Our Green Schools Committee are working towards our second green flag this year and have had a busy start to the school year organising and labelling new bins in order to improve our waste sorting and recycling. A roster of litter pickers is also being set up and we are very grateful for all our green volunteers!

Study Skills Week

Study skills week is upon us. A term that evokes a different reaction in us all. However, in its simplest terms it is about learning, and this is something that we have done since we were born. Now in secondary school we need to look at the quality of the learning that we are doing. Quality study means we are using an appropriate method of study for us and the subject we are learning. Take time this week to reflect on the quality of your work, are you using the best method, are you eliminating distractions, are you organised? Methods include, repetition, summaries, mind maps, key words sheets, notes, answering questions. Ask yourself what is working well? and, What needs to be improved upon? Be honest with yourself in your answer. Always remember to reflect on the quality of the work you are doing. Best of luck!
