As we come towards the end of this academic school year the first award ceremony in The BCS Awards Scheme takes place this Tuesday afternoon May 24th. This Sports and Student Award ceremony recognises achievements of our students in school events and extra curricular activities. We also present Student of the Year awards culminating in the overall student of the year.
Young Scientist Group in UL

Well done to transition year students Marie Williams, Karen Looby and Naomi Leahy who visited PESS in UL on Thursday 19th May. The girls were part of a group of young scientist students who were invited to UL to present and discuss their sport related projects. The girls project was entitled "Decision making in sport - can we test it?" for which they were awarded a highly commended prize at the Young Scientist Exhibition at the RDS in January.

BCS Mini Marathon

This years Mini marathon/ Fun run-walk takes place on Wednesday May 18th. and this event is being run as a fun Colour Run.. This event is a fantastic opportunity for students to raise much needed funds for local and national charities/organisations. This y ears worthy recipients are The Arthritis Foundation of Ireland, Chernobyl Childrens Trust- International, The national Rehabilitation Centre, Marymount Centre- Cork and Solas- Waterford. We encourage all students to return marathon Sponsor cards and money tomorrow. ENJOY

TY GAISCE HIKE

The bus will leave the school at 7.30 sharp tomorrow morning Monday 16th May. This hike will fulfil the final requirement for the GAISCE Bronze Medal Award. Please wear suitable clothing and bring food and drinks. Students will be back to the school for 3.30pm

BCS receives Amber Flag at ceremony in Cork The AMBER FLAG initiative aims to encourage Schools/Colleges/ Clubs/Societies/Organisations to promote and actively bring about a culture change in the promotion of positive mental health within the educational system and other organisations. . On Friday teachers Ms Ryan and Ms Coleman and students attended the Flag presentation ceremony in Rochestown Park Hotel , Cork and were delighted to accept the flag for BCS.
