Congratulations to 4th Yr. student, Oisín Tóibín, who has recently been selected to join the Ireland U16 Men’s Basketball Team. They will compete in the European Championships in North Macedonia in August, where they will play Great Britain, Norway, Slovakia, Denmark and Romania.
Pictures show Oisín at the recent 4 Nations Tournament in Dublin where they defeated Wales and Scotland, but eventually lost a very competitive final to England.
All in Pres. are very proud of Oisín, and we wish him the very best of luck at the European Championships in August.
We had a beautiful day in Pres today celebrating diversity on a global scale as we welcomed a group of Transition Year students from the Lycee Leconte de Lisle on Reunion Island way down south in the Indian Ocean
Reunion is a former French colony, 30 by 40m miles in area, situated 600kms east of Madagascar with a large active volcano at its heart. It is a French Departement and is part of the French education system.
12 girls and 7 boys met Pres students across all year groups, both socially and in class, sharing Chemistry, Physics, English, Geography and of course French lessons. There were ice-breaking activities and informal discussions between students as well as more formal presentations and interactive projects.
We also worked with them to create a bi-lingual podcast episode with students and teachers sharing music and poetry as well as discussing cultural and educational similarities and differences.
As two small islands with a colonial past, we had lots to discuss and it was wonderful to see the boys and girls interact so intelligently and respectfully as well as having so much fun.
The Reunion students were presented with special Pres rugby 2024 Cup Final poloshirts as a memento of their visit to Pres.
Special thanks to all the teachers who contributed and to teachers who were so patient with the sometimes spontaneous disruption! Special thanks also to management for backing this initiative and for all their support on the day.
Congratulations to our Junior Cup squad on defeating local rivals, CBC, on a scoreline of 19 - 14 in Musgrave Park today, Wednesday 20th March.
Well done to all our Junior Cup squad and their coaches - Mr. Brian Mac Mahon, Mr. Paul Downes, Mr. Ben Murphy and Mr. Eoin Quilter, a huge commitment from all of them. The College is extremely greatful for their efforts.
As a result of this victory, Pres. now claim both Munster Senior AND Munster Junior Cup Champions for 2024!!
This is the second year in a row that Pres. has won the double!!
Winning both the Junior and Senior Cups two years in a row has only ever been achieved twice previously in Pres., once in the 1940's and again in the 1960's.
The teams of 2023 and now the Junior and Senior Cup teams of 2024 have made history and will be forever remembered in the history of the College for this fantastic achievement.
A lot of hours of hard training from every age group from first year up, with many different coaches, have contributed to this outstanding achievement.
Well done to all involved in Pres. Rugby.

This is a fantastic achievement for Cillian and his family, but also for the movie industry in Ireland.
All in Pres are very proud of Cillian's achievement.
Congratulations to our 5th Yr. students who won the Regional CanSat competition held recently in C.I.T. Our team now go on to the finals in May.
A CanSat is a simulation of a real satellite, integrated within the volume and shape of a soft drinks can. The challenge for the students is to fit all the major subsystems found in a satellite, such as power, sensors, and a communication system, into this minimal volume.
The CanSat is then launched by a rocket up to an altitude of approximately one kilometre, or dropped from a platform, drone, or captive balloon. Then its mission begins. This involves carrying out a scientific experiment and/or a technology demonstration, achieving a safe landing, and analysing the data collected.
Every participating CanSat team will have to accomplish two misisons: a mandatory primary mission to transmit and collect air temperature and pressure data at least once a second by radio communication; the secondary mission is completely open to the students’ imagination. Your secondary mission could be exploring a new planet, analysing Earth’s atmosphere, developing a rover to fit inside the CanSat, or anything else students can think of.
Congratulations to all the students involved and a very special congratulations to Mr. Garvey, all his hard work with the boys is certainly paying off!!!

Last Week the 4th to the 8th of March was Arts Week in our School. An opportunity to celebrate the Creative Talents of our students, with opportunities to participate in a busy schedule. Attending talks in the theatre by visiting speakers and workshops in school and out. We enjoyed poetry readings in different languages each day, starting with an amazing original poem 'Summer Garden' read by the author, Ronan MacCarthy his entry in the Biodiversity Photo/Arts Competition. Other readers during the week included Ruben Lee representing the German language, Harry Garcin O'Mahony with his reading in French, Liam Keville representing Latin, Louis Flynn with his Dán as Gaeilge and ending our week was Anaus Syed Muhammed with his beautiful original poem, another entry to the Photo/Arts competition. We also had a special reading for 'International Women's Day' written and read by Miss Whelan. Women Artists were also celebrated in a slide presentation on screens throughout the school. The T.Y. Film Studies students attended screenings of their movies in Mahon Point and Youghal. Our Prefects selected and played music at lunch times and Student Creative Work was displayed around the school. The place of the Arts in Education was debated and exhibitions visited. The first years enjoyed a movie screening to end our week on Friday. A very big thank you to all students and staff for embracing Arts Week 2024 and we look forward to more Creative Events and Activities during the year.
