Hard luck to our senior hurlers who were narrowly beaten after a fantastic battle against Carrigaline GC this afternoon in beautiful summer weather at Nemo Rangers GAA grounds.
Thomas Lafferty in goals made some phenomenal saves throughout the match and twin brothers Jack & Tom Murphy were outstanding and teak tough in defence. Team captain Joe Hennessey led his troops on his home club grounds.
The team now move their focus to the Munster competition.

This week’s selection, ‘Winger,’ by Andrew Smith, comes from 6th year Ruairí Ó Donnchadha.
Ruairí says that although not his normal genre, he spotted ‘Winger’ on a shelf in the Reading Room at lunch break, leafed through the first few pages and was hooked- he had the whole book finished in a day! You don’t normally associate American high-school young adult fiction with rugby he says and that’s what intrigued him. Ruairí recommends the book for 2nd years upwards and says it has a really broad appeal and was immensely engaging with some excellent twists and turns.
Synopsis
A teen at a prestigious American boarding school grapples with life, love, and rugby in a heartbreakingly funny novel.
Ryan Dean West is a fourteen-year-old junior at a boarding school for rich kids. He’s living in Opportunity Hall, the dorm for troublemakers, and rooming with the biggest bully on the rugby team. And he’s madly in love with his best friend Annie, 2 years his elder, who thinks of him as a little boy.
With the help of his sense of humor, rugby buddies, and his penchant for doodling comics, Ryan Dean manages to survive life’s complications and even find some happiness along the way. But when the unthinkable happens, he has to figure out how to hold on to what’s important, even when it feels like everything has fallen apart.
Filled with hand-drawn infographics and illustrations and told in a pitch-perfect voice, this realistic depiction of a teen’s experience strikes an exceptional balance of hilarity and heartbreak.

Pres RC raced this past weekend at the National Rowing Championships at the National Rowing Centre, Inniscarra and it was another successful outing for the club at the end of season showcase for Irish rowing.
Our Junior 18s had great rows to claim bronze in the pair and silver in the four for the second year running, missing out on gold by 1.9 seconds, doing themselves proud with two gutsy performances. Sam Hernan and Leo Porion made up the pair, and were joined by Matthew O’Connor, Darach Fanning and cox Odran Murphy for the four.
We had strong rows from our J15/16 squad who continue to gain valuable racing experience, and Andrew O’Leary was unlucky in the Intermediate Scull to narrowly miss out on the final by .5 seconds!
We’d like to thank all the athletes, coaches and parents who’ve helped make 2023/24 such a great season.
We’ll be sad to see our 6th years move on but we hope they’ll come back to visit us in our new home.
It’s over to our internationals now for the rest of the summer!
See everyone in September!
