The boys have been busy and our latest episode has just dropped with David O Leary and Darragh Walsh at the mics as presenters.
If you loved westerns since ‘ ya wuz knee high to a grasshopper’ then we’ve got the show for you. Our radio drama team are back in the saddle with ‘The Ballad of Clyde Mayflower.’
We venture back down the trail to deepest Utah in the 1860s for the tall tale of eponymous train robber/ outlaw Clyde and his efforts to evade capture from an eclectic bunch of characters! Ronan McCarthy, Michael Dunphy and Tadhg O Connor star in Tadhg’s self penned script. Wonderfully creative with superb sound effects, it’s well worth a listen.
We stay back west in another segment as we visit Missouri and talk to teachers Nate and Mike as well as student Danny about life in a fellow fee-paying Catholic school. They hail from St John Vianney High School in St Louis on the banks of the Mississippi River, a city that was, once, of course, the gateway for pioneers to the old west.
Sticking with the theme of lawless frontiers, we look at the misuse and abuse of information on the internet. We spoke to lecturer and expert Anthony Angelini who recently addressed all 3rd and TY students here in Pres. Up for discussion was the scourge of misinformation and disinformation, widespread propaganda and the vulnerability of teenagers to content on the worldwide web.
As ever, thanks to PBC management for supporting, to all Pres teachers for patience and support during production and to our librarian Mr McCormack. Episode 4 is now in the making and will feature specials on Seachtain na Gaeilge and World Book Day here in Pres. Thanks for listening!!!

Well done boys!
Good luck in the National Final in Portlaoise on 29th March.
The Pres Music Society ably assisted by a diverse entourage of fellow students embraced Leeside’s cafe culture this afternoon with some music, song and spoken word in an open mic format.
A group of 1st, 2nd, TY and 5th Year students ventured down the quays and crossed to the bright side of the road to entertain themselves and customers at MYO Cafe on Pope’s Quay.
Michael Scott with self penned songs and a variety of ivory tinkling from Sami Flannery and Robbie Labowicz as well as backing guitar from Marcel Mosiej delighted both students and customers.
Conor O Halloran, Sam Dennehy, Eli Lee, Harry O Callaghan and Jeremy Bourke of 1st Year shared their thoughts on songs and books that they love while Daniel Shorten of 2nd Year spoke about and read a poem that he composed.
The afternoon concluded with a rousing ensemble rendition of a Bob Dylan classic.
Well done to all the students; they did themselves and the school proud and garnered some lovely comments and plaudits from the Cork public who happened upon the event.
Thanks to PBC management for supporting, to MYO Cafe for hosting and to Messrs O Riordan, McCormack and Ó Loingsigh for organising.
2nd year art students attended a workshop at the Glucksman Gallery on Thursday 13th Feb. The students were introduced to contemporary art works on the UCC campus and using this as inspiration for their own work. The workshop included drawing form nature and learining how to make your own paint from plants and fruit and spices and using this to create paintings. Check out the Gallery and view the fun and creativity.
The young scientists of 1B brought science to life today, they crafted clay models of the heart and lungs, including all the important key parts. Their creativity and enthusiasm was very impressive! Well done to 1B!
Hard luck to our Senior Gaelic Football team who lost the Munster final to Ennistymon Community School on a score of 2-8 to 0-8.
The final was played in TUS Limerick under ideal conditions. Two bus loads of Pres supporters travelled to encourage their team and certainly made their presence heard!
Pres started well and took an early lead but Ennistymon replied immediately with a goal. Pres were unlucky in then conceeding a penalty which Ennistymon goaled and Pres were left chasing the game for the rest of the afternoon. Despite dominating much of the second half in terms of posession, Ennistymon defence closed out the Pres attack.
The Pres team battled hard and never gave up. The Pres team showed great spirit and hopefully this is somethging our 4th and 5th Yr. players can build on for next year and beyond.
The wait of one hundred and two years for a senior Munster GAA title continues for now!
The match report from the Evening Echo can be seen in the link below
