On Thursday 10th of April three students, Lauren Oogan (2nd Year), Áilis Brett and Zoe Flannery (1st year) made the short journey to ATU in Sligo to represent Coláiste Muire in the Schools Athletics Track and Field. Each student competed in two events, the girls placed well amongst their relevant age groups and were happy with their results. Well done to the girls for taking part and respresenting their school so well.
On Tuesday 8th of April the first year girls basketball team travelled to the Aura Letterkenny to take on Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair in the 1st year girls Northwest Regional Basketball Final. The girls had a nervous start chasing the game at the end of the first quarter by 3 points, once the nerves settled it was easy to see the girls got into their stride and started to play some great basketball. Captain Klara McGettrick got a couple of crucial scores along with teammates Caoimhe Rogers, Layla Dayla and Áilis Brett all stepping up their game to contribute significantly in what was a very close game and a final scoreline of 21-15. The girls were delighted with their win and the support of some of their classmates and the second year girls basketball team it made all the difference on the day. A very promising few years ahead for these wonderful bunch students. Congratulations and well done to all involved.
A huge congratulations to our first year girls basketball team who beat Falcarragh from Donegal yesterday in their basketball semi-final held on home ground. Members of our Student Council recently visited ATU Sligo to partake in the Second Level Student Unions Regional Council meeting. This was a great opportunity to engage with other schools and build communication and leadership capacity through discussion and debate. One of our students went for one of the elected positions and was successfully elected an ISSU Regional Officer to represent students from the Mayo Sligo Leitrim region. Congratulations and we wish them all the best in their new role.
On Wednesday last the 1st/2nd year girls took to the court for their last time this season unfortunately. It was a very exciting semi-final which resulted in a loss for Coláiste Muire this time round. It was basket for basket however it just was not our day as the ball seemed to pop in and back out of the basket. This was the girls first loss of the season which was a tough one, missing out by three points. This team has so much potential and Ms O Malley is excited to see what next season will bring for this talented group of girls. Well done to all involved all season.
Today we welcomed Amelia and Mya from the Irish Second Level Students Union to the school to take applications for student cards. Well done to our student council for helping organise the event.

CMBM 6 - 0 CCC
The U15 girls had their Quarter-Final Vs Clifden Community College, Galway today (27.02.2025) in Castlebar.
After a long break from their previous game the girls picked up where they left and started the game very strongly, two quick goals in the first 10 minutes by Teagan Fallon & Kira Hutichson had settled any pre-match nerves. The game was dominated by CMBM and just before halftime Cora Flannery slotted home the third goal to leave us in a comfortable position.
The second half Clifden did well and held out some great attacking play but with constant pressure Oliva Faniska curled a lovely effort into the top corner to leave it at 4-0. Our fifth goal came from the boot of Kira Hutchinson again who put in a great performace throughout. Clifden missed a few chnaces with Emily Murrin minding the sticks well. Then just before full-time Teagon Fallon broke through to score her second of the day and cap off a great team and individual performarnce.
The girls now progress on to the Connacht Semi-final in a few weeks time, a great achievment from this young and taleneted team but they will be looking to go one step further and reach a final in their first year in this cup.
Thanks to Castlebar Celtic for the use of their impressive facilities for the game.
