Rugby World Cup Visits Taylors

Past pupil and Irish rugby international Mary Healy, along with her team mate Mairead Coyne, visited the school and brought the Women's Rugby World Cup with them. Both players spoke to the pupils about the upcoming Women's World Cup which his being held in Ireland this year. Mary presented the school with one of the first jerseys she wore playing for Ireland and which was signed by all the players on the Irish international team.
Ms. Byrnes & 6th Years Meet Nevin Maguire

Home Economics teacher Ms. Byrnes and her 6th Year students met Nevin Maguire while he was in Galway this week. Nevin presented Ms. Byrnes with a specially signed copy of his book.

Laoise Wins Gold in 300m Schools' Final

Congratulations to 5th Year student Laoise Geraghty who won the gold medal in the Connacht schools' 300m Intermediate final in Athlone IT on 18th May. Laoise will now compete in the All-Ireland finals in June.
Laoise is pictured with her sister Eabha who also competed in the Connacht finals.
Toastmasters Awards Ceremony

Congratulations to our TY students who were today presented with their Toastmasters certificates in the Ardilaun Hotel. This celebration was the culmination of the girls' hard work throughout the year and the development of not only their public speaking skills but also their confidence and communication skills. Special thanks was paid to Ms. McWalters who is the driving force behind Toastmasters in the school.
Lisa Keegan Wins Galway Junior Maths Competition

Congratulations to 1st Year student Lisa Keegan who won the regional final of the Irish Junior Maths Competition organised by the IMTA.
Lisa was the overall winner out of 36 students from 17 schools from all over Galway county.

Laura Wins 1st Prize in National Environmental Reporter Competition

Congratulations to 3rd Year student Laura Quinn who won 1st prize in the 2017 An Taisce Young Environmental Reporter competition. The result was announced at a special ceremony in Dublin on 28th April. 2nd Year student Yuliya Makarenko took 3rd prize in the competition. This is a great success for Taylors as there were a large number of entries from schools all over the country.
