Geo week was held last week and was an opportunity for students to connect with their world in a fun way. Thanks to the geography department for the initiatives they ran. Pictures are some of the cool projects our students submitted!

TY Workshop: Enigma & the Secret World of Codes & Codebreaking

TYs participated in an Enigma & Codebreaking workshop in NUI, Galway’s Data Analytics Centre as part of the Galway Science Festival. This hugely interesting workshop was given by Dr James Grime of Cambridge University in conjunction with Dr Brendan Smith, NUI, Galway. After being briefed on the history of the Enigma machine and mathematicians, such as Alan Turing, the TYs took to breaking codes themselves in what was an exciting and fun-filled workshop.

3rd year students from Ms. Hurley and Ms. Moran's CSPE classes will leave for the Dail and Seanad at 10am on Wed 16th January as part of their Junior Cert Action Project. Students will return to the school at approx 7.30pm. Attendance is obligatory as the project accounts for 60% of the Junior Cert grade.
Parent Association Meeting

There will be a meeting of the Parent Association on Tuesday evening next at 7pm. The Parent Association welcomes all new members and is now looking for helpers for the nights of the College Opera, which will be running on the 12th, 13th and 14th of December. Could anyone interested in helping out on these nights please contact the school reception at 093 24342 or attend the upcoming meeting. This year's Opera marks the celebration of 75 years unbroken Opera tradition.

Well done to Conall Martin and Daniel Lynch who along with their teacher Ms. Hurley participated in a workshop led by Trinity College and hosted by NUI, Galway. Both students performed brilliantly and were highly commended by the organisers.
