Our wonderful school therapy puppy, Esme, has fast become a much loved member of our school community. Esme's placement in our school has been made possible by the charity- My Canine Companion. This Friday (10th January), we are having our first fundraiser for the charity with a non-uniform day and a bake sale.

Dear Parent/Guardian,
This week, Jan 7th to 10th, is our second Study Skills Week in school. Students will be given opportunities to think about developing study habits which will be of benefit to them. We encourage you to discuss this with your daughter and share any tips you may have from your own experience. The video linked below was shared with all students this week and may also provide some additional information which can support the development of good study habits.

Retrieval practice is the strategy of recalling facts, concepts, or events from memory in order to enhance learning. The act of retrieving something from your memory actually strengthens the connections holding it there, making it more likely that you’ll be able to recall it in the future.
The retrieval practice is all about bringing information to mind from your memory so to use retrieval practice you have to close your book and put your notes away then you can try to sketch or write out as much of the information as you can remember.
Once you've written everything out or drawn everything that you can you can open the book and check to make sure that you got everything right see what you need to work on more.
Due to the worsening weather conditions, the Board of Management has made the decision that HFSS will now remain closed tomorrow, Monday, 6th of January 2025.
A further update will issue tomorrow regarding arrangements for Tuesday. Thank you for your understanding.
Wishing everyone in our HFSS school community a very Happy New Year. School reopens tomorrow, Monday 6th January, after the Christmas break.
We will continue to monitor weather warnings and forecasts. We will endeavour to inform parents/guardians, students and staff in a timely manner should there be any changes. Kildare is currently in a Yellow warning area. The explanation for the weather warnings is outlined in the information link from Met Éireann. Stay safe and warm everyone.
Huge thanks to all who donated for the Holy Family Youth (HFY) DINING ROOM Appeal this Christmas. Fidelma was in school this week to collect the donations and wanted to thank all staff, students and their families for their generosity. Pictured with Sr. Kate and members of HFY.
Today we celebrated as a whole school community at the inaugural 'Senior Prefects Christmas Show'. What a great way to end this school term and this year together. Starting a new tradition that will, hopefully, weave its way into the story of our school traditions. Thank you all for your continued support of our school. We wish all of the staff, students and their families a peaceful, restful and enjoyable Christmas break.
Dear Supporters,

As we approach the festive season, we would like to encourage more of you to join us, especially with the special Christmas draw happening this week. It's a wonderful opportunity to contribute to a great cause, and have a chance to win some fantastic prizes.

Last call for donations to support our Christmas appeal for the the Dining Room this Christmas. The HFY girls are organising this collection and are asking students to bring in just ONE item. The charity is looking for the usual Christmas treats, selection boxes, mince pies, tea, coffee, sugar etc. Any non-perishable food or toiletries would be appreciated. We are also encouraging students to think of teenagers in particular with their donations. All donations can be put into the boxes outside Ms. Allen's office. Tomorrow Tuesday 17th of December is the last day. Thanks you in advance for all your support.
