"What Is Stand Up Awareness Week? Stand Up Awareness Week is a national LGBTQ+ anti-bullying week running in second-level schools, Youthreach centres and youth services across Ireland each November. We are proud to now be in our 14th year of running Stand Up Awareness Week, and to have steadily increased the number of young people taking part year-on-year. Stand Up Awareness Week is a time to celebrate LGBTQ+ youth in all of their diversity and to come together in support for LGBTQ+ young people. The campaign also acknowledges the harms of anti-LGBTQ+ bullying, and makes clear to young people that this behaviour is both serious and unacceptable. During Stand Up Awareness Week, LGBTQ+ young people and their allies learn about LGBTQ+ identities, take part in LGBTQ+ solidarity actions, and come together to create a safe and supportive environment for all young people" Belong to

Back to school November routines for HFSS

  • As we welcome our students back to HFSS after the October mid-term break, I would like to take this opportunity to compliment our students on their respect for our school community protocols and expected behaviours at school. As part of this ongoing work, our Year Heads will have a uniform check tomorrow. It is important to be consistent with learning about the high standards that we expect for our students at HFSS. As we have previously communicated, the HFSS school uniform allows for greater student equity, school cohesion and allows for the focus to be on learning. Thank you for your continued support in this important area. The school uniform policy is in all of the students' journals.
  • In the next few weeks, most of our students will begin their November assessment exams. Teachers have been guiding the students to prepare and there will be another week of Study Skills preparation next week.
  • The Parents' Association has arranged for Wayne Denner to speak to the parent body next Monday, 13th November at 7pm in school. Wayne Denner is a Technology and Online Safety Specialist.
