Dear parents/guardians,
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of you who were so generous with your time in engaging with our School Self-Evaluation Parent Focus Groups. We are currently working on our School Improvement Plan and School Self-Evaluation Report which will be shared with all stakeholders upon completion and approval by our Board of Management.
In this context, we have brought together some key expectations from a number of current school policies into a one-page student-friendly document. Please see attached. Our goal is to ensure that our wonderful students are engaged and supported in their learning over the rest of this term.
This document is shaped to ensure that our students arrive to school ready to learn and enables them to take ownership of their learning in their school. The document has been distributed this week to all students. We ask that over this weekend, you speak to your child about how they can get the most from the remaining four weeks of term. What steps do they need to commit to, in order to achieve their full potential. We greatly appreciate your support in ensuring that your child arrives to school ready to learn and engages with their learning in each of their lessons.
This document will be reviewed by staff and students in early June and will also be added into student journals which we will introduce to students in August 2023.
As always, thank you for your continued support and all that you do to help make HCETSS the student-centred, engaging and supportive school which we are very proud to be.
Kind regards,
Padraig & Mick

Dear parents/guardians,
The 2nd year trip will take place on Wednesday 17th May. All students will come into school and will have their first class as normal. The bus departs at 10am and please note that it will return a little after 4pm. We will be outside all day doing activities so suitable clothing and a packed lunch is required. The trip is to Zipit in Tibradden Woods and the cost is 32 euro which is due by 15th May. Please email lorrainegalvin@hcetss.ie if you have any questions or if you know your child cannot attend on the day as we need to confirm numbers early next week.
Thanks in advance. I wish all the 2nd years well in their assessments next week.
Lorraine
Dear parents/guardians of HCETSS,
We are writing to you to update you about a Second Year student-led initiative taking place on May 12th 2023 at the school. The idea is to do an overnight sleepout for the Dublin Simon Community which will we hope raise awareness of
the homelessness crisis. Our target is to raise €1000. We are asking each Second Year student to raise at least €20 in order to take part. All Second Year students are invited to take part.
In terms of logistics please see the schedule below:
May 12th:
7.00pm sharp: Students and parents arrive at the school. Parents are welcome to go with the students to see where their child will be sleeping. Buckets will be circulated, and parents will be welcome to donate at this time. Students will need
to bring a sleeping bag, some cardboard to lie on and warm clothes.Students can bring their phones; however, they will be told to put them away upon arrival. There will be some teas and coffees provided for parents if they wish to stay with
us and chat for the first hour.
7.30pm: Charity worker from Dublin Simon Community will make a presentation.
8pm: Parents will be asked to leave. A number of teachers will remain on site with the students overnight.
8.15pm: Students will watch a movie and have pizza. Students are welcome to bring snacks also however nuts are not permitted.
10.30pm: Night-time chat
11.00pm: Lights out.
May 13th:
9am: All students will be asked to leave the school and the site will be locked at 9.15am sharp.
We think this would be a fantastic bonding experience for second years and an amazing opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, we hope to see you and your child/children at this fundraiser. If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback please forward them to office@hcetss.ie
Yours Sincerely,
The sleepout organising committee
