Well done to everyone on getting back up and running with schoolwork today.
Many thanks to all those students who completed the online survey. We will compile the feedback from students and teachers over the coming days and look at ways of streamlining our online tuition.
Remember to get back into a good routine of schoolwork, exercise and relaxation.
Have a look at the image with this message for some good advice about working from home.

Calling all Nolan, Heuston, Lynch, Butler, Taheny and Baird House members!
While we are all away from school at the moment we are still part of our amazing school community.
We are asking students to send us photos that capture your House spirit.
The school twitter handle is @dominicangalway.
Please use the #HousesatHome when posting.
It could be your pet wearing your badge or house colours, your house name spelled out in fruit, etched into the sand at the beach etc.
Anything and everything that shows that even though we are at home we are still all #Taylorsgirls!

Back to School Student Online Learning Survey

Archived : 22 Apr 2020, 1:00 AM
We hope you all had a good break over the past two weeks.
As you know, schoolwork begins again tomorrow (Monday).
As it looks as though we will continue to use Google Classroom and online learning for the next number of weeks, we want to get some student feedback about your experience of it during the three weeks before the Easter break.
With that in mind, we are asking all students to complete a very brief online survey to give us some information which will hopefully make using online learning over the coming weeks a little easier.
We are also asking teachers for their feedback about what they think can be improved.
The student survey can be accessed by clicking on the following link: forms.gle/UyLhmwLffUtkFbXD8
Please complete this survey today!!

Schools have been asked by the Department of Education & Skills to remind all students of the absolute need to practice social and physical distancing, and to minimise physical contact with each other, to help avoid the spread of Covid-19. This means that students should avoid meeting up and in all circumstances to adhere to HSE guidelines.
The Department also urges parents and guardians to support their children to maintain the restrictions on congregating for the safety of all in their community.
Extension of School Closure

Archived : 19 Apr 2020, 1:00 AM
All schools, pre-schools and further and higher education settings will remain closed to students until 19 April 2020.
The decision has been taken following advice from the NPHET (National Public Health Emergency Team) as part of efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19.
All young people and children are urged to practice social distancing, and to minimise physical contact to keep themselves and others healthy and to limit the spread of infection. This should include minimising social contact, avoiding meeting up and keeping physical space of two meters between each other. Parents and guardians are urged to support young people and children to follow those simple guidelines.

Easter Holidays

As we all know, the past number of weeks have been very difficult and challenging. They have involved a complete switch in the way that teaching and learning takes place for all schools in the country and the students and teachers of Dominican College should be very proud of the manner that they have risen to and responded to that challenge.
Happily, the Easter holidays begin tomorrow, Friday 3rd April. It is important that all students and staff use this as an opportunity to take a break and re-charge their batteries for the work to follow after Easter.
All students should take a good break from school work with the exception of 3rd and 6th Year students who should also include some revision work as part of their break – but take a break nonetheless! Remember, the Leaving and Junior Cert are marathons, not sprints and if you are to perform to the best of your ability in the exams, you need to be entering into the final term rested and ready to go!
School Routine

A reminder to all our students of the importance of sticking to your school routine/timetable and setting aside the school hours during the day to do school work. It is also good to stick to the school hours so that you have a fixed time to finish up, relax, get some (socially distant) fresh air etc. It is important that everyone looks after themselves at this time!
Teachers have been reporting some students missing scheduled online classes during the day. When you have online video classes scheduled you will be notified on Google Classroom and they will be during the time you would normally have that class. This means that you must be logged onto Google Classroom each morning.
We have only one more week to the Easter holidays when you can take a break!
