TY Students taking part in The Model UN Conference in City Hall in Cork. The Lord Mayor addressed the conference and spoke about possibilities, critical thinking and gender balance. Niamh Landers addressed the conference today.

Well done to all students and their teachers who exhibited at this years BT Young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS over the last three days. Congratulations to 5th year student Tiernan Stevenson who was 2nd in the Senior Technology category with his project titled "Hydrogen Powered Viscous Boundary Layered Jet Engine Concept" and to Cathal Barry with his project "To Investigate the effects of Media on Propaganda in Ireland" and Conor O Brien with his project titled "An ecological survey to examine effect of rhododendron and conifer trees on biodiversity of upland habitats," both of whom received Highly Commended awards. CAO Information Night

Wishing Leaving Cert students and their Parents/Guardians the very best in this weeks Information Night. We will have speakers on the filling out of the CAO form, the Financial and Banking Information of going to college and Well-Being and staying healthy in college and what it is like to be a student in third level.

BT Young Scientist Exhibition

The Science Department are delighted to have 6 projects representing Blackwater Community School at the BT Young Scientist in the RDS in Dublin running from this Wednesday 11th January to 14th January. Derval Gibney-Sheridan will be exhibiting a project titled “How raising awareness of online disinhibition can lower cases of cyberbullying in teens” , Cormac Martin’s project is titled “ A Statistical Analysis of Secondary-level Students’ Opinions Towards Third Level Education and Apprenticeships” , Conor O’Brien’s project is titled “An ecological survey to examine effect of rhododendron and conifer trees on biodiversity of upland habitats”, Roan Carey’s project is titled “How much is a teenager's hearing range affected by their age” , Tiernan Stevenson’s project is titled “Hydrogen Powered Viscous Boundary Layered Jet Engine Concept”, while Cathal Barry’s project it titled “To Investigate the effects of Media on Propaganda in Ireland “.
