LCA 1 visited Glenmar fish processing plant in Curraglass today as part of their investigation into the Irish fishing industry. They received an excellent talk about food safety, processing of shellfish, pasteurisation methods and vacuum packing. An extremely interesting trip.

"Taste of BCS event we had in Friday 17th December 2020 for the Yellow Flag Programme. We have some images here of the event. Over 14 nationaliies were represented that day whereby students baked or cooked a native dish. It was a great success and helps promote the inclusion of students from outside Ireland into our school community."

Huge Congratulations to our Junior Camogie Girls who beat John the Baptist Community School Limerick in the plate Semi Final 5-6 to 3-9. The girls are now through to the final. Super win ladies!!

We would like to wish our three transition year students Sylvie Topps, Nan Farrow and Karina Hartnett the very best of luck this week as the second year of the Virtual BT Young Scientist takes place online from Wednesday 12th to Friday 14th January. The girls worked very hard on their project entitled "Biophilic Classrooms - To Investigate the effects of plants on the concentration and overall performance of secondary school students". They will represent BCS in the Intermediate section of the Social and Scientific category. The girls submitted a project diary, project booklet and powerpoint presentation for judging along with an overview of their project in a 2 minute recording. The BT portal has gone live for the next three days and the competition entries with a range of other interactive STEM activities which can be viewed at www.btyoungscientist.com
