Our first year students had a fun filled and action packed day in Tayto Park on Monday, as an acknowledgement of their positive work and behaviour throughout the year. The Rotator, Shot Tower, 5D Cinema, Viking Voyage and the Zoo were certainly on the list of attractions. One of the many highlights was the Cú Chulainn Coaster, which tempted students and teachers to experience the heights of the park! The day ended with some retail therapy and lunch with friends in Dundrum Town Centre.

The minor camogie team defeated Heywood CS today in the Leinster final. The game played in perfect conditions in Tinryland paved the way for a cracking game. Goals were the difference on this day with 4 coming in the second half after a Heywood fightback. With a 11 point lead at half team Heywood cut their deficit to 2 but these Coláiste Bhríde Girls once again showed their resilience and character like they have many times this year since September registering 4-4 in the final 15 minutes to leave the result in no question. This was a fitting end to a very successful year for Colaiste Bhríde Camogie. They have rose and set new standards throughout the year for themselves and new students arriving in September. Well done to the girls and huge thanks to Mr Fitzgerald, Ms Lancaster and Ms Drummond!

Congratulations to David Doyle, 6th year and Emma Doyle, TY, who competed in the Junior Liffey Descent on Saturday May 18th. It's run on the Liffey from Salmon Leap Canoe Club near Leixlip to Canoeing Ireland Training Centre at Strawberry Beds, Dublin each year for kayakers and canoeists. It was David's 3rd year to take part in the race but this year he moved up to the U23 age group and with his competitive side showing he brought a fiberglass boat in an effort to have a chance at coming among the leaders and was absolutely delighted to receive first place for his efforts. It was Emma's 2nd experience in the event and she also decided to attempt it in a fiberglass boat. She made the weirs look easy and finished with the leader in sight but was thrilled to achieve 2nd place in the U18 age group. Emma will soon head on a trip to the Freestyle World Championships as the only Junior Female taking part with the Irish Team in July this year. We wish her every success.

The minor camogie team defeated near neighbors Gorey C.S in the minor Leinster semi final on Tuesday in glorious conditions in Carnew. Carnew lead by 5 at the break after a very physical encounter in the first half which didn’t allow the talented side to produce their best. The CBC defense tightened up remarkably in the second half only conceding 3 points with only one from play. This resulted in a lot more pressure on the gorey defense and an early goal in second half stretched the lead to 8 points. From here on in CBC looked in complete control. The Gorey fight gradually died as the Carnew attack turned up the heat. Each player battled and worked tirelessly in the first half and when the game opened up in the second half hurled exceptionally. CBC 3-13 Gorey C.S 2-3. The girls now face Haywood C.S in the Leinster final on Tuesday 21st. Venue and exact time to be confirmed. All support welcomed.

A happy bunch of fifth year students set off for Dublin on their end of year trip on Tuesday the 14th May. The day was the “Alternative Outdoor Activity Centre Experience “. All students headed for Dundrum Shopping Centre for a bit of a dash around, some fitness training going up and down escalators, eating in various fast food outlets and burning up calories in various changing rooms and shops. Half of the group then stepped up their energy output and headed for Jump Zone in Sandyford, where the fitness levels was really challenged. A combination of Dodgeball, Obstacle Courses, Individual Trampolines and the Foam Pit provided ample activity. Lots of laughter and fun wrapped up the day. Thanks to all the students for their good humour and positivity.
