The under 16 hurling team began their defence of the Leinster title with an excellent team performance, and victory, against Wicklow Schools. All players got some game time, with very good performances throughout the team. With 28 panel members, there’s huge competition for places. We look forward to our next outing, on Monday, when we travel to FCJ Bunclody. Training will continue tomorrow after school.

The junior u-16 girls team began their Leinster journey with their first round played today against Coláiste Bhride Enniscorthy, in Belfield. The girls settled quickly with well worked play resulting in a goal and 2 points in the space of a few minutes. Our defence stayed strong and battled well and only conceded four points in the whole game. They continued to work hard and kicked over a further three points and two quick goals came in succession early in the second half. The score for the opposition stayed low this was largely because of excellent defending at the backs. The girls dug deep and cruised over the line as winners with a final score of 4 goals and 9 points to 5 points. Well done girls! Thanks to Caoimhe Murphy (TY) for providing the match report!
Thank you!

Concern Debates vs St. Mary’s Arklow Last night our Concern team successfully propposed the motion “Ending world hunger by 2030 is beyond humanities reach” The team of Max Moroney, Lorianne Pacecho O’Rourke , Laura Gallagher and Isabella Ni Chonaill passionately argued the case that ending world hunger is such a complex issue and humanity being so flawed that ending world hunger is far beyond humanities reach. After an intensely competitive debate it was Colaiste Bhride that came out victorious. The team look forward to their next debate. Thanks is also due to the Caoimhe Murphy and Cian O Tuama who acted as chairperson and timekeeper on the night
Senior girls football team made to work hard for their win

The senior girls football team opened up the defence of their Wicklow A crown with a hard fought victory over Dominican College Wicklow on Wednesday September 11th. Playing against the wind in the first half the girls showed a lot of patience and this combined with hard work saw them lead at half time by 8 points. This was largely due to three well taken goals and some great defending at the back. The 2nd half told a different story as we were dealt an early blow of having a player sent. Despite playing most of the half with a player less the Carnew side worked hard to maintain their lead. However two quick goals from the home side brought the score difference back to just one point. The last ten minutes was a tense affair but we dug deep to score the last three points of the game to finish as winners on a scoreline of 3-12 to 4-5. We’ll done to the girls.

JUNIOR RUGBY: The Jnr Rugby squad played in the South Leinster Development Blitz today at Enniscorthy Rugby Club. This Blitz decides which competition squads will take part in for the coming season with the top two from each group going forward to the Pat Rossiter Cup and the bottom two going forward to the shield. CB first game was against Bridgetown who start with two very quick try’s in succession but the Carnew lads settle themselves and got back into the game winning in the end 4 try’s to 2. Our second game was against Gael Coláiste Carlow. We quickly established a comfortable lead which gave us the opportunity to try out some new players and get some needed match experience. The third and final match against Kennedy College Newross proved to be more challenging and again after some early scoring by a good opposition the Carnew lads had it all to do. But with some good forward play and some strong support Coláiste Bhríde won out in the end 3-2 and a total tally of 3 from 3. SENIOR RUGBY: The senior rugby team were out for the first time this season in a practice match against Scoil Chonglais at Tullow RFC. Many positives can be taken from the match and it was encouraging to see some new players getting an opportunity to play.
