The Girls Senior Football team topped their group following a convincing win over GCM in Arklow on Wednesday October 9th. Both teams went into this match knowing a win would guarantee a home semi final in the Wicklow A championship. The Carnew side started strongly and pushed the home side back deep time and time again in the opening 20 minutes to open up a commanding 2-6 to no score lead. However the home side dominated the remainder of the half and scored 1-5 without reply to get back into the game. Thankfully for the Colaiste Bhride girls, a well worked goal on the stroke of half time put daylight between the sides once again. The second half began much like the first as the Carnew girls pushed forward at will tagging on some great points to put the result beyond doubt. Final score GCM 2-5 Colaiste Bhride 3-21.

On Tuesday 8th of October, thirty-seven 2nd years and four of our 1st year boys traveled to Bunclody for the second game of the under-14 south Leinster Championship. With both an A team and B team game, this was a great opportunity for students to showcase their ability. In the A game Coláiste Bhríde started strong with the first two scores, however Bunclody were quick to reply with a goal and a point. The first half continued in this fashion with the two teams neck and neck After a tough 30 minutes in perfect conditions, Coláiste Bhríde were a point down but were facing into a difficult wind. In the second half, the Bunclody side found another gear and our lads found it very difficult to score. Saying that, the Coláiste Bhríde footballers never gave up and pushed FCJ the whole way to the final whistle. With the game blown up, Bunclody won, 4-10 to 10 points. This game was a credit to both teams and an exciting game of football. Coláiste Bhríde have a must win game next week against Enniscorthy CBS, with the winners going on to qualify to the south Leinster semi-finals. Special thanks to our two accompanying TY students Cian Ó Tuama and Thomas Collins for their help with the warm up and other preparations on the day.

Thursday, 3rd October saw our whole school come together in the gym to celebrate the beginning of our new school year. This year the theme for our celebration was "Belonging". Everyone was reminded of how important the sense of belonging is to each of us individually and in so many different scenarios. Thank you to our Religion and Music Departments for all the preparation this involved. Thank you to Fr. Casey and Ms Gahan who spoke to the assembled group. Special thanks to all our students who participated in so many ways. It was lovely to see some parents joining us also. Occasions like this really do remind us that we are constantly caring, challenging and achieving together.
